Portuguese food is amazing my trip to Lisbon was memorable and I really miss the food. When I discovered O Tino today I was overjoyed that I can enjoy local cuisine in the heart of London 🇵🇹.
I was first greeted by the friendliest of owners it felt more like an aunt I haven't seen for a long time, along with the super happy uncle whose always pleasant.
O Tino serves a range of popular dishes including piri chicken, bacaulau and pork chops. They also offer a range of famous pastries and desserts.
I ordered pork chop with chips and a portion of rice, while my friend ordered the steak with mushroom. The pork chop was so juicy !! 😋 with a bit of crispy fat this went very well with the rice 👌 the chips was insanely good crispy ahd fluffy in the middle cross between a chip and a French fries. The whole dish was fresh and seasoning was balance it didn't fell salty at all but flavoursome. The steak with mushroom was creamy and steak was cooked perfectly. Both dishes was very fresh.
After the meal we enjoyed a espresso Delta, popular Portuguese coffee ☕️ brand which is much stronger in taste to your usual espresso closer to Turkish coffee without the granules.
O TINO is really authentic and it may not be a fancy restaurant but its food definitely better than many. The humble little restaurant is filled with locals creating a abroad vibe in a good way.
I will definitely...
Read moreAfter immersing myself in the crowds of Camden Lock Market, I stumbled upon O Tino quite by accident. From the moment I stepped foot in this exceptional eatery, I was afforded a genuinely warm and friendly welcome from Don Pedro for whom nothing was too much trouble and who made my whole experience here nothing less than exceptional. Don't be put off by its low-key appearance, it is the service and quality of the cuisine that counts. I enjoyed one of the best Caldo Verdes that I have ever had outside of Portugal, freshly prepared by the lovely Elisabeth, the venue's cook. For such a simple dish, the flavours were nothing less than amazing, even more so, accompanied by fresh 🍞 bread and salmon paste. I opted for the sardines for mains, which were perfectly prepared and made for the perfect lunch - not too heavy. Both dishes were completed perfectly by a half bottle of Vinho Verde. Instead of a desert, Don Pedro allowed me to taste before I purchased, a glass of sweet Licor Beirao, a great alternative to Port and a glass of refreshing Amendoa Amarga (bitter almonds). Ask him to prepare the latter with a shot of 🍋 lemon - you won't be disappointed 😀. Next time I find myself in Camden, you won't be surprised to learn where I...
Read moreLovely family run restaurant with fabulous Portuguese food and the most friendly staff. I have been three times - first two times for a dinner and on the third occasion we recently held a birthday party with over 25 people. I cannot thank Pedro and his family enough for such a wonderful evening - they looked after us extremely well with delicious food, great service and a wonderful birthday atmosphere - and at all stages of the process paid great attention to ensuring everyone was happy. Pedro has this amazing skill of remembering everybody - if you go there once, when you go back even 1 year later he will probably remember you name as well as your face - and anything special/unusual about the previous evening you were there. Incredible - it really shows what a people person Pedro is and how much the family take pride in making sure everyone has a great time. I was introduced to the restaurant by a Portuguese native - always the best sign of authenticity and quality. If you are new to Portuguese food, I strongly recommend the Bacalahau dishes (salted cod fishes) as a great introduction - they are delicious. Very much looking forward to...
