When my fiancee had a itch for Nachos - her whims best known to herself - I was all too happy to use it as an excuse to visit this lovely cafe.
We came in when it was empty save for the staff - bit of a late lunch - and the service was lovely. Sat wherever we wanted, though we got a bit unlucky with a wobbly table - though the waitress was attentive enough to then try and fix the issue with some well placed folded up menus.
Decided we didn't want to go too heavy so we order 3 tapas plates and a side and shared it. The Nachos Grande is easily my new favourite example of a plate of nachos: Onions, BBQ sauce, guacamole, sour cream, cheese galore and plenty of jalapenos and bell pepper slices. Add in the meatballs which were large and succulent, lovely prawns in garlic and coriander (my fiancee loves shellfish and coriander) plus some nice spanish rice. Plus I had a slice of their tangy sweet but not sour passion fruit cheesecake served with little delicious strawberry slices to the side. A lovely meal full of variety which is always one of my favourite things. I'll have to come back another time and try their breakfast options or maybe some sandwiches for lunch.
The drinks are amazingly up to scratch as well - as a bartender I appreciated their well stocked back bar full of all sorts which fuels a huge cocktail menu - we found one called the Chiquito which is the same name as my fiancees dog. We went for their non-alcoholic cocktails - a virgin colada which had a lovely chocolate sauce decoration inside the glass, and a strawberry / passionfruit blended ice drink for myself. Oh so sweet. Classic margaritas, caipirinha, pina coladas, other spanish classics with a range of tequilas.
Small and cosy, if you can get in a little later or earlier than a usual meal time, then you're in for a lovely experience in this tightly packed room...
Read moreSuch a great restaurant , I recently dined at this restaurant, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely magnificent, leaving me thoroughly impressed with every bite. We ordered the fajitas, and they were nothing short of amazing. The dish was beautifully presented, with the sizzling hot plate of seasoned meat, sautéed vegetables, and warm tortillas creating a delightful medley of flavors and textures. The meat was perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavor, while the vegetables added a lovely freshness and crunch to each bite.
To accompany our meal, I enjoyed a glass of wine, which complemented the dish wonderfully. The wine list had a good selection, and the staff was knowledgeable in helping us choose the right pairing. It was clear that great care and attention to detail went into curating the wine offerings, and it really elevated the overall dining experience.
In addition to the outstanding food and drink, the prices were quite reasonable, especially considering the quality of the meal. The portions were generous, and we left the restaurant feeling satisfied, both in terms of our appetite and the value we received.
The ambiance of the restaurant was also worth mentioning. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cozy yet stylish decor that made it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. The service was attentive and friendly, with the staff making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive.
Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience. I love chilli cor carne, the combination of delicious food, excellent wine, fair prices, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a place I will definitely return to. If you're a fan of fajitas, wine, and good times, this is a spot you won't...
Read moreI’d like to begin on a good note, the waitresses were very friendly and polite. Unfortunately, this was the only positive about Frida Camden. My friend and I ate here this evening for the first and last time. Sadly to say, there wasn’t much cooking that went into the dishes! From store bought tortilla chips (which take a matter of minutes to make, just by using flour tortillas, cutting them and deep frying) to beans out of a tin, salsa from a jar and Guacamole which I’m sure is bought frozen. I had a chicken burrito which I was unable to finish, it was that awful. Unseasoned shredded chicken which tasted like it was in a tomato stew, nothing was grilled including the tortilla it was wrapped in! I cannot refer to the people heating up the food as chefs, because it was clear they were not! My food was most certainly pre made and warmed up in a microwave.
I’m not sure where these high reviews have come from, but please be advised this is NOT authentic Mexican food and to my fellow chefs and foodies you will definitely be able to suss them out if you dare to visit.
I truly wish I could have given a better review, as I said the service was good, but the food was extremely disappointing. My advice is to hire chefs who are well versed in Mexican cuisine and do a...
