Dearest gentle readers, It is with profound regret that I recount my recent foray into the establishment known as Kaboom.
Our evening began with a request to sit outside, a simple desire to enjoy the fresh air. Despite a clearly vacant table and our willingness to move if needed, we were informed that the outdoor seating was reserved exclusively for patrons purchasing shisha. As one who does not partake in smoking, this arbitrary policy felt exclusionary.
The baklawa was as dry as the Sahara Desert and the chocolate cake was straight from my nightmares, utterly disgusting, a regrettable confection that warranted a swift refund.
Yet, the true affront laid the serviceāor rather, the lack thereof. Our decision to order desserts and tea, a modest yet refined choice, seemed to render us invisible to the staff. It was abundantly clear that, in the eyes of Kaboom, diners who opt for lighter fare are scarcely worthy of attention.
Our server, though polite, was as elusive as a summer breeze, leaving us parched and unattended for the better part of the evening. Despite the restaurant being far from busy, our drinks were inexplicably forgotten. It took two reminders before our teas finally arrived, a delay that was both unnecessary and inexcusable.
However, the crowning indignity came with a simple request for coffee. Imagine our astonishment when we were brusquely informed that coffee was an unusual option for that time of night and was denied. In a society where a good cup of coffee is a basic expectation, such a refusal is an outright affront to decency.
The absence of service, coupled with the indifference displayed by the staff, left us feeling both neglected...
Read moreThe service here is extremely BAD, I went to this restaurant for my friends Birthday and she paid them a deposit for a large group. I paid my £10 deposit, and I had my starters and waited an hour for my mains, I decided I did not want the cheesecake dessert, and the waitress said ok and did not bring it out. However this cheesecake stayed on the bill and my cousin had to pay them for it. That is theft, and the staff knew about this, but the manager said he will not refund the money. There were also other items on the bill that were not given, but my friend paid for. They also insisted that my friend pays the service charge, even though they were aware that most people were unhappy. The majority of the group of 60+ people disliked the food as it was served cold or not as requested even though the orders were provided more than a week ahead of time and the service from the staff was below standard as several people said that two of the staff members were rude to them. They were understaffed and they took no accountability even though my friend went to speak to the manager to no resolve, and this has upset my friend who really was speaking highly of this restaurant before we went. They maybe good sometimes for small groups like my friend insists, but that was my first experience there, and they clearly bit off more than they could chew, and I would strongly advise against visiting this restaurant. I would not waste my time going back to a restaurant where you are not respected or appreciated, for food you can get in many other restaurants...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited Kaboom as had been meaning to try this local restaurant (having heard good things). The decor /atmosphere were nice, a shisha lounge outside, there were insta photo corners, soft music, dim lightning with dark gentlemen's club decor. But the main thing we were there for, i.e. the Food was sorely disappointing. Chips for child came out cold. Had to return and reorder. Felafels were dense and tasteless, served with just a dab of tahini (hummus required to be ordered seperately). Fatoush was not finely diced and the dressing was sorely missing it's zesty flavour. Spring rolls were crunchy but thin with minimal filling. The Babaganoush was nice. The first pita basket was toasted but the second pita basket was stale, dry and cold. Chicken & Lamb mix grill had 2 pieces of chewy chicken and the lamb was neither tender nor juicy. Was offered a bowl of chips on the house and the most enjoyable part of our dinner were the bowls of chips. The servers were sweet but there were language mix-ups. Was told they served Peroni on tap but they only served bottles. Ask for chips and got a coke. Tried to explain Felafels were stodgy but had to give up. Upon our request they took off the Fatoush and pita basket off the bill. Later when we were leaving someone apologised for the poor food and said it was because they were having an event upstairs. All good to hear an apology and maybe we just caught them on a bad evening but our bday dinner evening was ruined and we still paid...
