Kokoro — Restaurant in London

Came in super hungry, and left incredibly happy and satiated. Got a large portion of the tofu katsu and spicy chicken rice bowl. I had to wait a few minutes for the tofu, since it was still being prepared, but it was so worth it. This was by far one of the best fried tofu dishes I’ve ever had. The breadcrumb coating was perfectly crisp, while the tofu inside was smooth and silky.

The spicy chicken had a respectable level of heat, and the meat was pretty nicely cooked, wasn’t tough or stringy at all. I opted to upgrade for the fried rice, which kind of got lost against the other strong flavours. But the rice being used was proper sushi rice, which is a really nice touch. I’d probably just get the plain rice next time.

The portions were incredibly filling. I was a bit apprehensive at first, since the bowl itself didn’t look so big at first glance, but it was loaded to the top. Moderate amount of rice, but super, super generous with the toppings, which explains why it ended up being so filling. The service was really smiley and friendly as well!

Overall, Kokoro has a lot going on for it. The comforting food, generous portions, fair price-point, decent atmosphere and friendly service. Would love to see one...

Having eaten here religiously here over the last couple of years (30+ times), the store has rapidly declined over the past year. What used to be amazing good quality food and service and our favourite takeout, is now not even a contender. The food quality has declined, the taste consistency has declined, service has declined, food is often out of stock, and the food is always lukewarm, never hot. On top of this, no new menu items or passion anymore it seems, it’s nothing in comparison to the Guildford branch, which always offers amazing service, consistent and deliciously hot food, and a range of every expanding menu items including a fire kimchi fried rice. I recently been at Kokoro in St George Shopping Centre, Harrow. We opted for the large portions of sweet chili chicken with rice and salmon teriyaki with noodles. The sweet chili chicken exceeded our expectations, offering generous portions perfect for sharing between two adults. However, the salmon teriyaki was overly sweet and didn't quite meet our expectations. Despite the limited eat-in facilities, the menu impressed us with its variety and reasonable prices. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and the venue maintained a neat and clean atmosphere. While the salmon teriyaki was a miss, we're eager to return and explore other dishes...
