L'Antipasto Restaurant — Restaurant in London

I have known this restaurant for over 20yrs, hadn't been there for awhile so visited in May (no problem) and again yesterday Sunday at 2:45pm (horrible service) When me and my friend entered there were just 2 other people eating, the waitress understandably directed us to a choice of tables for 2. When we sat down the seats were not very comfortable so knowing that the restaurant was empty we asked if we could move to the next table which seated 4 people but had comfy chairs. The lovely waitress asked what appeared to be her manager if this would be OK and he seemed hesitant and not pleased but said yes. I then asked the waitress for a meal that I knew was no longer on the menu but available which I had on my previous visit in May. It was a very simple dish, breast of chicken with veg and potatoes. The waitress asked her manager who came over and said 'what's happening, first you want to change your table, now you want to change the menu, are you going to ask me to find you a man as well" I was astonished, he wasn't smiling so I knew he was not joking. I proceeded to explain that an older gentleman who served me previously was OK with that and his response was "well he will be here at 4pm" I should have walked at that point! In the end we got what we ordered which was lovely. After our meal, the rude manager came over to try and make small talk to repair the damage but quite frankly was too late. I discovered he works nights at a club then works in the day, clearly burning the candle at both ends is not advisable if it impacts your ability to provide polite customer service. By the way service charge was added to the bill! This experience has left a nasty...

"ah ah not this table" as if you're talking to a little kid is not how you talk to adult customers. They seemed to have gotten annoyed because I said I wanted to eat at the restaurant when I had initially called in for collection. Well i didn't expect your restaurant to be empty because of your reviews so I decided to eat there :). You could have said no if it was such a big deal.

They got even more annoyed when I asked if panchetta was pork. I'm not Italian, my friend, I'm just asking! 😂 "My patience is wearing thin" said the man after the woman went over to him. Maybe it was just a coincidence.

Also the food wasn't bad but wasn't as good as I thought it would be from the reviews. The pasta was a bit hard. The sauce was decent though.

REPLY to the dishonest owner lool: Thank you for your polite reply. You're not exactly going to admit being rude here are you. You didn't deny saying what i quoted you too. Behave yourself better next time my friend :). Maybe say something directly if you're annoyed next time, rather than being passive aggressive when you're a grown man haha. I dont know about seeing me again unless you want to. Your food is rather bland for...

Very disappointed with this restaurant since the new management has come in, we’ve used this place for many years for birthdays and a Friday I had a table booked for 11 people when we arrived I gave in my sons birthday cake to be told they wanted to charge me £15 to light it, this I found absolutely terrible never in the whole time we’ve used it have they asked for this, the couple who always run the restaurant were there and I felt they looked very upset, the new manager was very rude telling me I had to pay for the cake to be lit as we are using there plates and cutlery I’ve never heard this in any restaurant and told him I will not be staying he then tried to say he won’t charge me this time but next time we have to pay so i decided to take my 11 guest else where and we all left. The new Managerment is awful and I would NOT recommend anyone go with large groups to celebrate any birthday with your own cake as they want to charge you on top of the large amount that the bill would of been. Very upset and fell very sorry for the couple who run this restaurant as they will loose so many...
