My partner and I visited this place today (14/06/2025 14:00-16:00) after often walking past and admiring the beautiful cakes in the window. They definitely caught our eye — which I now think might just be the way to get people in. We weren’t looking for a full meal, just tea and cake. The atmosphere was okay, quite busy with people coming and going. There were around 20–30 tables inside, and while it wasn’t packed, there were 4–5 staff members on the floor. We were seated quickly, but it took 30 minutes before anyone took our order — only after we flagged someone down. The staff member who seated us didn’t seem very friendly either. It felt like we were a bit of a burden. I ordered an English Breakfast tea (loose leaf) and a slice of Snickers cake. The tea was disappointing — no tea leaves in the pot, the pot itself didn’t pour well, and the taste was underwhelming. The Snickers cake was a generous slice and tasted nice. I didn’t finish it all, but they did give me a takeaway box when I asked. My partner had an Oreo milkshake and the chocolate fudge cake. The milkshake looked great, though the cream tasted like it came from a squeezy can. The fudge cake was very rich, but it had a cherry or strawberry jam topping, which wasn’t mentioned on the menu and wasn’t to our liking. Overall, the food was okay — nothing special — but the service let the experience down. No one checked on us once we got our food, and we had to ask to get the table cleared only when we ask for the bill. The bill also had service charge of 13.50% automatically added, which brought it to nearly £40 — not worth the food or the long wait, in our opinion. What was especially frustrating was seeing an other couple arrive 20 minutes after us, eat, and leave — all before we’d even finished ours. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

Two slices of cake here are going to cost you £20. First the good news: the cakes are actually pretty good. The bad news is hopefully only temporary (as writing in January 2023 they have only just opened) and that is of the embarrassing customer service, which I’m sure is just due to management teething issues while they bed in. On arrival having waiting to be even able to step inside the door, we joined the queue just inside the door waiting to be seated. To my surprise I could see around ten fully empty tables available, but the people waiting in front of us were still told to please wait another five minutes to be seated. It wasn’t busy, they just can’t handle the number of customers their seating allows. Later on once we had been seated and had ordered, I noticed those same people being apologised to because having been seated before us around five minutes earlier no-one had actually given them a menu. I should have mentioned our own ordering experience, when we were told there is only a drinks menu and if we want to order a cake we need to get up and walk over to the window display, visually pick the one we want, come back to our table, describe it to the waitress, and then she will bring it to us (all while charged you a service fee!). I get the feeling the manager has never run a cafe before. I’m sure service will improve in time and for now the window display has no problem attracting a steady stream of people walking past taking photos. If you found my review or photos helpful, please leave a quick thumbs up 👍 Thank you!

Where to start. It looked so tempting when you walked by on your city walk. They make sure they have big windows and the cakes are placed very nicely. There is no price on the cake tag, neither inside in their menu you can't find the exact description, price of the cakes. It's a secret. Why to do need to know that you will be charged £8+/per slice?! I wouldn't mind the price or the poshness if I would get a service as well. The lady who welcomed me couldn't speak English. I told her I want to eat cakes and get a drink. She showed me my table and didn't give me the drink menu. I had to walk to door to help myself when an other staff member approached me if I have a table at all. The other waitress spoke English at a good level and had a very good memory as she didn't write down what I want, only used her memory. I ordered a decaf latte. I was not sure if I got the decaf or not. I don't drink coffee for health reason. I couldn't trust them. Pistachio rose cake was really nice, light but filling. The macaroon cake is bad! Disappointed. Tasteless cream and very dry macaroon shells. See, just because it looked good it doesn't mean tastes nice. Shame. Overall experience. Not all the cakes are nice I guess. Service is not matching the level of the place. I won't return.

I usually love l'eto and spoil the family and I this time of the year (Christmas which also co-incides with my birthday) with lots of dessert bits from here. Today, took my younger sister who had a bad news sadly here for lunch and drinks. This was my first experience of their lunch service which turned out to be an absolutely horrendous waste of time with added feelings of anger anf insult in equal measures. Customer service seems to be absolutely dead at your place. We waited over 50 minutes for one turkish breakfast and a portion of chips. Her latte and my diet coke took 12 minutes to arrive. We tried to ask a waitress how long it would take after 43 minutes of us sitting down (34 min after placing the order). She literally rolled her eyes at us and without even glancing at us said "the chef is very busy, it will be a while". We felt gobsmacked at such dismissal and horrible attitude. After a few minutes, She shouted standing by the kitchen door across the room (about 3/4 seats were occupied) to us sitting by the wall in the middle of the room "he said 10min. He's very busy". I couldn't understand why I deserved such poor treatment. If youre that busy, then either reduce the number of covers or employ more staff. Also, more importantly, if you can't be bothered to speak to us properly, just tell us at the door and we would have been happy to go elsewhere. Chips came before the breakfast and lacked any rosemarry flavour. It was just chips put in a plate for us, absolutely no seasoning nothing. I pointed it out to a lady who seemed to be the manageress. She tried to argue with me by saying this is how we serve them and that the seasoning is at the botttom. I couldn't see any! Anyways, that was resolved by chucking a pinch of rosemarry salt on top after a minute or two. The egg breakfast was extremely mediocre, eatery, bland, and lacked any seasoning. Would never go back for food. For desserts, I'm happy to go to Fortnum & Mason, El & N, l'aduree etc etc. So so many places to...

We visited this café to buy a slice of cake. This was my third visit, and while the shop’s display may look appealing, don’t be fooled. Up close, the cakes were swarming with flies. Worse yet, if you have any respect for yourself, avoid interacting with the rude and ill-mannered staff.

On October 3rd, 2024, at 9:30 PM (I’m including the time for the owner’s reference in case they care to follow up on the staff working that shift), a girl working at the café approached us. When we asked for a slice of cake, she responded irritably, saying we needed to make up our minds and call her when we were ready—nothing sooner! Her tone was unfriendly and unpleasant, and she rudely insisted we pay for the cake immediately. The slice she cut for us was much thinner than normal. Having visited the café twice before, I knew the typical size, and this one was noticeably smaller.

When we complained, she claimed the slice was standard. We asked her to cut another slice, and in response, she aggressively threw the cake onto the counter in front of us! I’ve never seen such behavior in a restaurant or café. She then brought another plate and told us to move aside because she didn’t have enough space, demanding that we stand in the corner while she cut the new slice.

This was by far the most disrespectful service I have ever encountered in a restaurant. The staff treated us like we were beneath them, and I felt extremely embarrassed in front of my companion. Such behavior is unacceptable, and I hope the management seriously reconsiders their hiring and...
