Lai Cha — Restaurant in London

Just found this jem on Google map, it's close to home and so convenient. The staff are friendly and very helpful, the bubble tea hmmm, it's so nice, the best I had so far. I always go for taro milk tea with double tapioca and boy! Everything was perfect even more than I expected. The taro milk tea was so creamy! A delight for your taste buds, I never experience this texture before, that makes a whole difference to what I've tried in the past. The portion of tapioca was fine, you get a topping of your choice with your tea, also had the rights amount of sugar and ice in my tea as a standard service, no questions asked, which was nice. They are really cheap £3.50 for a regular size, £4.00 for a large, any additional toppings are 50p. They are also selling reusable metal straws for £2.00. Went to Lai Cha because of the pandan softserve. It turns out that they do food as well at this drinks joint so got the mapo tofu with rice which came with a free drink. On Wednesdays, there is a better deal with cake, rice box and drink. Anyway, I loved the mapo tofu because you got two different types of tofu, the puffs and the tofu jelly cubes. The cubes of tofu were huge and chunky, very satisfying while the flavouring had a strong miso kick to it with bits of shitaake. Finished with the pandan taro softserve which was to my liking as it was refreshing and not too sweet. The texture is icy and milky but it was good an everything here was affordable. Last but not least, the taro coconut cake would have been nice with desiccated coconut because I found the coconut flavouring a bit...

My absolute favourite bakery. I can’t even tell how much I’ve bought from here. I love everything they come out with in the dessert category and enjoying the new food they’re bringing out! My whole family love this place.

If I’m truly honest the only thing that brings my rating down is the drinks. I first discovered them years ago for their drinks but the quality and flavour has gone down noticeably (for me). The tapioca pearls itself are too soft and the milk drinks are watery and tend to leave me disappointed.. The fruit drinks are great though!
