I am coming from a deep, rooted Jamaican back ground. Appreciate the idea and ambition, but this very much lacks PASSION. Food is meant to be cooked authentically from the heart. The story of Michael, who is the owner, beautiful. Here's the problem with Jerk Yard...Where on earth is the jerk flavouring? Also, this is not originally Carribbean hence why it lacks in authenticity. African food and Carribbean food are totally different and it showed immensely. You don't see no jerk cooked on the fire. It's all pre done so you can potentially end up with dry roasted tasting chicken, it's absolutely awful and a disgrace. You'll see how they warm it up in front of you. The type of cooking when you go to your local cafe and they fry up eggs, burgers, sausages onionš¤£. Are you kidding me. The rice was just as bad and shame they don't know the secret ingredient to cooking a proper Carribbean rice and peas. You've got Rose's Kitchen, New Cross, Smokey Jerky, Daphanie's - Queens Road and Tops - Queens Road... Authentic. It scares me to think how things might be in 40 years time. This needs to stop. Keep it authentic and stop ruining food that you didn't grow up on...change the name and please do not have Jerk Chicken on the menu. The service lacked warmth. Unwelcoming. This was Thursday night. 8pm 17th Oct 2024 Young staff also. Not a great sign either. Experienced cooks needed. Not young ppl who are employed to warm up food and serve. Awful...

I appreciated the customer service and the initiative to ask about my dietary requirements as Iād chosen the Veggie wrap so they asked if I was ok with dairy not just meat. This is something I notice some places donāt do. I think thereās more of a focus on the meat and an expectation that dairy products are fine but in some cases like myself, it is not but they took initiative in asking while preparing my food šš¾
Food itself was incredible. I was given a choice of spicy or medium so I picked medium. As someone with Jamaican heritage that can handle Dunns River Hot Pepper Sauce and Scotch bonnet quite well, Iām glad I picked medium and not spicy because that woulda ended me. The Medium spice had my eyes watering, nose running and me cooling my throat with air. I coulda bought a drink sure but I aināt no wimp, my ancestors woulda clowned me if I did that so I sucked it up and firmed it. When the woman came to ask if I was paying cash, I was battling demons and nodding my head like Will Smith did in the movie Pursuit of Happyness when they offered him a job at the stock broker near the end and he was trying to fight tears while remaining professional and composed.
Overall great place, will go again when Iām in the...
