I regret to say that our visit to Le Beaujolais was deeply disappointing. My husband and I managed to secure a table on a busy Friday evening, but the experience fell far short of expectations.
We ordered two glasses of house red wine, but white was brought to the table instead. When we politely mentioned this to the waiter, he blamed us, claiming we had pointed to the wrong page in the menu — which we had not.
When it came time to order food, I felt embarrassed and belittled when the same waiter openly scoffed at my pronunciation of a French dish on the menu. His attitude was condescending and unprofessional.
Later, when we received the bill, the two glasses of house red had been omitted. Wanting to do the right thing, we pointed this out. Instead of thanking us for our honesty, the waiter once again blamed us, suggesting it was because we had moved tables upon arrival. To make matters worse, when the corrected bill was brought back, an additional £25 had been wrongly added. When we asked for this to be fixed, the waiter responded with an exasperated “Oh, for God’s sake!” and continued to mutter under his breath.
Overall, it was an uncomfortable and unpleasant experience, made worse by poor service and a dismissive attitude. We remained polite throughout the evening but, unfortunately, the same courtesy was not...
Read moreIs this the very last authentic tranche of old Soho, save for maybe the French House or Bardleys Bar? I think so.
Remember a time when people remembered your name and greeted you? A time when you could walk into a bar or a restaurant and you would know some one in there? A local place, only slightly off the beaten track that was unknown to most but welcoming to all.
Le Beaujolais is still like that, even after all these years, and with no awful refits!
A serious place for lighthearted drinkers, foodies and good natured Bon viveurs, a Soho stalwart and legendary drinking hole that also serves very good food at competitive prices.
A street level characterful wine bar that offers great food and drinks. A massive selection of wines and spirits, this is a drinkers paradise.
A secret private members basement restaurant onsite also offers quality, French bitstro/brasserie favourites more than 150 wines and probably the best cheese selection in London, the service is always fabulous, friendly and generous. Its not fancy Micheline wannabe dots of bright green goo, or ridiculously adorned deserts... its much better than that, it...
Read moreWent here for the first time after Gordon’s wine bar was a) too busy, only standing available b) too expensive for us (£10 for one option of cheese)
We arrived at 7pm and ended up staying until close because the food and ambience was excellent.
The place feels like it has real character and the choice and level of music is ideal to have conversation whilst having ambience in the background.
Although it was busy, the staff accommodated us and we waited less than 10minutes to be seated. You sit anywhere where there is space.
We had the steak frites, cheese plate that had 4 types of cheeses and charcuterie which were excellent. I believe they have 25 different types of cheese you can choose from. My friend had the house wine which she was very pleased with.
The staff are genuine and attentive without trying to be overly polite.Fast service with attention to quality and care.
There is only one toilet for the women and one for the men which are very small however it is a small venue ( the only...
