🚨 Gluten Free Bagel Alert 🚨

📍 Libby’s Bakery, Notting Hill

When I was planning my trip and researching gluten-free spots in London, Libbys was at the very top of my list. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. In fact, it completely blew my expectations out of the water. I’m already counting down the days until I can go back!

I ordered the Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese Bagel 🥯 and honestly… words don’t do it justice. This was THE best gluten-free bagel I’ve ever had, soft, fluffy, light, and with that perfect chewiness you expect from a bagel. I actually haven’t had a proper bagel in 3 years since going gluten-free, so this was such a special moment for me. And wow, Libby’s made it unforgettable.

The portion was generous and thoughtful, silky, fresh smoked salmon layered beautifully, paired with the creamiest, most perfectly balanced cream cheese. Every bite was rich, satisfying, and yet somehow still light. I savoured every single mouthful.

Beyond the food, the atmosphere of the bakery was so warm and inviting. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience feel even more special. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like part of the family the moment you walk through the door.

And let’s not forget, next time, I’m definitely coming back for their famous cinnamon roll. I’ve heard too many good things and if it’s anything like the bagel, I know it’s going to be life-changing.

Libby’s, thank you thank you for creating a space where gluten-free doesn’t mean missing out. You’ve made a forever fan...

Cute gluten free cafe; we visited the Notting Hill location — it has a handful of tables inside and outside which makes for a lovely setting to enjoy your treats. We visited for breakfast — there were pastries (croissants, cinnamon rolls, and pain au chocolat) and savory options such as ham and cheese or spinach spirals, and four types of pre-made bagel sandwiches — smoked salmon, avocado and bacon, and others.

Overall, we were impressed with the texture of these gluten free creations — they have definitely perfected the crispy/flaky exterior texture with the moist/chewy interior. The cinnamon roll is much more like a small sticky bun than a traditional frosted cinnamon roll — the flavors were more honey or syrup than cinnamon. The spiral needed more filling and flavor, though the bread’s texture overall was great! The bagel sandwich was bland — the bagel itself was great and we actually bought some plain ones, the the avocado spread has soaked into the bagel and the bacon was both cooked our liking.

We would recommend visiting — because it definitely is a bakery that is offering some lovely gluten free creations — but based on the reviews of others who went back multiple times over their trip, I would not say this it lived up to that repeat...

I regularly visit Libbys as I work in the area and am gluten free. The bread is delicious (i recommend the wholegrain with seeds). The bagels and toasties are delicious and generously filling. The desserts are the reason I have developed a sweet tooth and maybe gained a few kilos... I really recommend the brownios (the salted toffee and the passionfruit were my favourites but perhaps they were seasonal but now they do a cherry one which is equally yum), the apple sponge crumble, the cinnamon roll when they cover them in icing and the pain au chocolates. I cant fault any items on the menu to be fair, and even my gluten eating friends and family agree. They have dairy free and vegan options as well (all being gluten free).

The customer service is always lovely, friendly and cheerful! even when the line is out the door! the customers are also lovely to chat to as everyone who goes there is friendly too!

Great place to go with a gluten eating friend, or by yourself with a book to have a coffee and a treat. The coffee is also great! i have never had a bitter or burnt one! and they offer lots of dairy alternatives if you cant have dairy.

Highly recommend, but go early on the weekends as people take a lot of...

Maybe it was an off day here. I made the trip especially. There were two customers outside and one inside, all already served. I asked for a gluten free croissant and a cappuccino with oat milk to have there. I wasn’t asked if I wanted the croissant warm. I had to ask. The coffee was brought to my table in a small take away cup. I asked if they had any cups. The waitress asked: “You want it in a cup?”. I said: “It would be nice”… a couple of minutes later the coffee came out in a cup. The taste was good but it was Luke warm. Not the best cappuccino I’ve tasted. It took some time for the croissant to arrive. When it was put on my table the waitress said “There you go” and walked off… The croissant was overdone maybe? It was hard. Inside the texture was dense, fatty, and not really as a croissant should be. At no point was I asked if everything was okay. If anyone’s to interested they don’t take cash; only card. I don’t eat pastries often so I was hoping for a relaxing mid-morning break. The cakes looked nice. I won’t be going for coffee and croissant again. I’ll stick to the occasional M&S GF ones, which taste authentic.
