Went to eat in this place on the weekend with my friend. Once coming inside we were escorted to a bar area and told we could have some mocktails. When asking what these mocktails entailed they told us mint and sparkling water, when we questioned whether that’s a mocktail the server said don’t worry I’ll make it special for you. We politely declined and waited for a table. Once at the table we ordered a butter chicken (for me) and mattar paneer ( vegetarian friend), when the food came my friend looked at it before putting it in her mouth and then realised it was fish! As an Indian establishment that has a lot of religious vegetarian population I find it appealing that they could make such a mistake! When we asked for it to be changed they apologised and brought out a very chewy and unflavoured paneer dish. I ordered samosa’s and when I bit into it it was stone cold inside, when we told our server he said it’s no longer on the menu due to technical issues. This is a food hazard and I wonder what the health rating should truly be in this place. We should have been refunded but the manager pleaded with us to be reasonable even though these health violations were anything but reasonable. Ended up getting 10% off but would have rather paid full for a delicious meal than 10% off for an...
Read moreI booked to go to this restaurant on their website after hearing it went to the national final of a competition. I stated 1 member of the party has a dairy intolerance.
When we arrived we were shown to our table. We had poppadoms to start. I found the service really strange and felt like women were treated like 2nd class citizens. The waiter was more concerned about the needs of my partner, constantly stating sir first. It was really strange. Another waiter kept on asking if we were ready to order. I would understand if it was busy but although there were people in there they weren't rushed off their feet.
In the end we ordered before we had finished the poppadoms. It turns out they don't actually cater for intolerances. I asked for a balti and they said it contains ghee. So they made a dish without ghee in the end, instead they added coconut milk. It was the most saltiest dish I've ever had. You can tell they really didn't want me to be there.
The rest of my parties meals were nice.
I won't be going back. It is certainly not a place where you feel welcome...
Read moreI think we may have found a gem here. I like to try different curry houses but mostly stick with the same 2 or 3. This was recommended by my brother who is very fussy so I had to try and have not been disappointed. Given the current circumstances, the delivery has been exceptional but more importantly; the food. I usually go for a chicken madras when trying a new restaurant so I have a bench mark. However, decided on the railway chicken for my first taste and it was soooooo good. That was 3 weeks ago and have since had the madras and other dishes. What sets this place apart, and is quite rare in this country, is that you can actually taste the different spices and flavours instead of just being blown away by the heat. Many restaurants have their peaks and troughs as chefs come and go so fingers crossed for the future. Cant wait to actually visit the restaurant once things are back to normal. Keep up...
