The M Kitchen (The Meze) — Restaurant in London

This was a first time visit and I was disgusted with the service at the M Kitchen, especially after travelling so far to come to the restaurant for my partner’s birthday. I’d asked to move our booking to 9pm and was told this was not possible as the kitchen closes at 9pm, however there were numerous people arriving and being seated after 9.15pm. We then ordered boneless chicken wings as a starter which was nice however had numerous bones in it. When simply informing the waitress that it had bones in it, she responded coldly “well you should have told me earlier”. We informed her that there was no one around to inform as we weren’t checked on at all during the service and also that we were simply informing her so that they were aware for next time, to which she walked away. We then ordered a platter for 2, which we were told that we couldn’t amend any of the meats that was included, which we understood. However when the platter arrived, the portion size was unbelievable. In particular, the size of the ribs was shocking as they were completely 2 ends of the spectrum. We called one of the staff members to inform him of this to which he rudely told us “do you expect all ribs to be the same size?” I explained to him that this was not the case, however it is ridiculous to be provided with a tiny bone with no meat and a large rib, especially as it was a sharing platter. He continued to go back and forth with me, and then walked away, with no apology. I later found that this was the manager of the restaurant who was speaking to us in this disgusting manner (I believe his name was Sultiri). A lovely waitress (I’m not sure of her name but she was mixed-raced) did check on us and offer us a complimentary drink following the awful service received by the manager and also the other waitress. I’d also asked for a desert to be brought out for my partner’s birthday and nobody tried to inform me that this was not possible. Not only was this an awful experience at The M Kitchen, it was a waste of a drive from Kent and completely ruined my partner’s birthday. We didn’t receive a single apology from the rude staff member or the poorly trained manager who was there at the end of the evening. Unless you’re looking for somewhere with appalling customer service and mediocre food, I would definitely not recommend this...

I came here for my 21st birthday with high expectations as their social media portrays it to be a place for great food and good atmosphere. It’s a very pretty restaurant but nothing I haven’t seen in ever meze restaurant ever. Everything we ordered was over or undercooked cooked and the portions were small. The wagu sliders tasted nice but was over cooked & so was the pan friend prawns. Ordered a whole seabass and it came with 3 baby potato’s 1 tiny tomato and even that was over cooked. The lamb literally came out overcooked and charcoal black & was pretty much impossible to cut through & came with rock hard asparagus and undercooked broccoli and didn’t even receive a steak knife to cut the lamb with. Not even a side of rice, baby potatoes or chips with the lamb and was quite overpriced ! The chicken shish was good in flavour but over cooked, come with a small rainbow salad and the tiniest bit of flat bread ever and was very overpriced for what I received. I ordered chips and Mac & cheese as sides and the chips were steak cut oven chips that looked like they were from Iceland or something and were undercooked and had the cheek to try and charge almost £5 for a small bowl of them and the Mac and cheese tasted of just over cooked pasta and pasta water, no cheese whatsoever and had to send back can’t believe they were charging £7 for something so small and tasteless, was very tempted to send back the lamb chops too. The drinks were very watery and weak and the angry bird cocktail was just pure ice and way too sweet. The waiter was awful, she didn’t come over to check the food was okay once, was very unwelcoming, didn’t smile once, barely acknowledged we was there and the adult area we was sitting in was practically empty, just 1 other table being managed by another waiter & done her best to avoid having to come back over to our table even to take our plates! we had to wave her down every time we wanted or needed something. food we ordered Red velvet prawns - I didn’t know what to expected but meh these were okay the sauce that came with them was the best part that was so nice & The Calamari (this was really nice!)

We then ordered the platter for 4 that was nice the kofte wow out of this world so soft & flavourful Tbh I wish I ordered that for myself 🤣 the chops were really well cooked and the chicken was very soft and tender. The bread was yummy too. In fact probably the best white rice I’ve had from a restaurant too even the bulgar was really good.

I then had the passion fruit cheesecake it was nice wasn’t anything amazing but was tasty and everything was well presented

We had the phone box 10/10 Pina colda 10/10 & Pop smoke 10/10 really good for aesthetics too. Great sizes worth the money 100%

The shisha meh we waited 25/30 mins for it and it just tasted like air - there was no smoke coming from it and by the time we got it we was ready to leave soon as we had other plans so we asked for them to take it off the bill which they did. The waitress suggested maybe the pipe was broken and if we wanted it changed but by that point we was over it. So yeah it was kindly removed with no issues.

The service wasn’t the best you was waiting around for while to be able to grab someone I feel they should have a staff member that doesn’t leave that area so customers always have someone around plently of times we was looking around for staff (I do accept they were busy ) i had to ask 3 different people for a dessert menu so ended up being a long time to wait for a menu…

The staff was polite though and nice. Really like the man that opens and closes the door for you. It’s a great start to your experience he was also very cheerful and polite.

I didn’t catch the waitress’s name but she has curly brown hair with blonde highlights she was lovely too!
