I have been to other Meat Liquor and had great good. This was the complete opposite.
We booked bowling and a meal. When I turned up, they said there was no booking (the place was pretty empty). I then showed a screenshot of the booking, and then they managed to find the booking.
Table service was very disorganised. We had three or four different staff approach us to ask if we wanted to order, after we had already ordered.
The place was pretty empty, but the first round of drinks took a long time to arrive. My milkshake tasted like a cheap Nesquik powder mix rather than actual ice cream based milkshake. My friend also ordered the same milkshake and said a similar thing.
Once the food turned up, three of the four meals were completely cold. The one warm dish was the person in our group who only ordered a starter. We honestly weren't going to say anything, but a staff member approached and asked if the food was OK. We mentioned that three of the orders were completely cold. A manager came over and offered to take the food back and to bring out warm food but we honestly did not want to send food back to the kitchen as we did not want it to come back with a surprise in it. We said we would just eat the food as is. One friend was trying to be nice and said they'd make it work. The manager then offered to take off two mains from the bill.
We ordered a second round of drinks, and one did not turn up. One of the group mentioned it to someone who approached the table, but nothing happened. They eventually stood up and asked someone else, and the drink appeared. Staff were all generally very friendly (just disorganised).
I am currently regretting eating the cold food as my stomach is doing back flips. I personally would not go back to this place. My friends said they would return for the bowling but...
Read moreI took my godson here for his birthday after ice skating and was so disappointed. The MEATliquor in Clapham is great and the Covent Garden one was really good but this one just isn't the same. It's loud and dark and the staff refused to serve us because we were sitting in the bar area.
I tried to explain that we wanted to sit in the brightest and quietest area because my godson is autistic and they still insisted we could only order by using the app, despite staff walking past us constantly to get to the kitchen (a table near us actually got up and left after waiting so long to be served as I don't think anyone told them they had to use the app). There's really poor signal down there and the wi-fi is dodgy so it took ages to order.
When I finally came to pay I had no option to remove the service charge despite the staff refusing to serve us. I raised this with the manager, who then told us the only way to not pay the service would be to go to the bar to order. I'd already spent so long ordering online that I just hit pay to save time but I really wasn't impressed with the response.
The food came and it was average (the food in Clapham is amazing) and the glasses of Coke we ordered had more ice than Coke so we finished them in a few seconds. When I asked if they were refillable or whether we could get more, while showing them the amount of ice, the staff apologised and said no.
Eventually a staff member took pity on us for our terrible experience, spoke to his manager and offered my godson a free dessert to make up for it. He was happy with that, hence the 2 stars instead of 1, although I think we both would've probably preferred more Coke instead. Not the worst meal I've ever had but definitely close. I'll...
Read moreWe've never been here before and whilst I appreciate it may have been a busy Saturday me and a friend just wanted some food. We waited a while to be seated, the first person who seated us reluctantly took us to a table and sat us down, put the menus on the table and walked off not acknowledging us at all. After looking through the menu for 10-15 mins we were then approached by someone who asked us to move as they would need that table in 30 mins. We were then placed onto a table that a birthday party had just finished on, it hadn't been properly cleared or wiped down. We then had to call someone over to order as the servers were too busy talking. The food was great and the drinks were fine but the level of service was abysmal. The majority of the team looked like walking zombies not smiling, monotone voices, it was a travesty. The only positive person was the young gentleman wearing a bandana who served our food. We received our bill which I paid in full, to then see at the bottom of the receipt that an "optional service charge" of 12.5% had been applied. Firstly optional charges should, by law, be pointed out to paying customers. This was not done. Second, the service was not worth it the amount that was paid. Very disappointed. If you are putting the extra charge onto each receipt, again by law, you have to state that it is an optional payment. The courteous thing to do would be to say "there is an optional amount of £x for a service charge, are you happy with the service today and are you happy to pay this". The amount of money you must make separately with people who do not know about this will be unreal. I have reported this further and reported it to media too to seek...
