An absolutely stunning and beautiful experience! I came for lunch with my daughter on a Friday and we were treated like royalty! Katherine was utterly charming and really listened to us when we were explaining what we wanted and why. We started with a couple of spectacular drinks - a delicious iced coffee and a really stunning sour plum drink which was really refreshing. We had the mushroom summer rolls and mango salad to start and they were both amazing. I think I actually prefer the mushroom to the usual prawn variety! We then shared the signature rare beef pho with the broth poured from a beautiful tea kettle while the diner (almost inevitably) videos the theatric at table serving! The beef was perfection, the noodles were the bounciest ever and the broth has been featuring in my thoughts and dreams ever since!! We also had the peppered beef with rice and I can't describe how exceptional this was. I'm not sure what they do to the jasmine rice but i loved it. We finished with a dish of banana fritters which was a celebration of textures and temperatures with the crispy hot fritter and cool and creamy ice-cream, and we also had a really divine pandan pudding with brown sugar sauce which was utterly captivating. Needless to say I will be back with my whole family, if only so I can get to taste the...
Read moreCute little restaurant located in basement of hotel near earls court. Wanted with all my heart for this place to be great….sadly, it was not. On the positive side, place was spotless, very clean. Glassware and dishes were surprisingly upmarket for such a simple restaurant. Service was good and friendly, although surprised the waitress didn’t know what pho tai was. Anyway, service was quick friendly. Now for the not so good…. The pho, we had one beef and one chicken and I can say without any doubt that the broth of both was augmented with some type of store bought bullion. The chicken pho was much too dark and had an unpleasant aftertaste. This is not a fully home-made broth, and as a cook, I know the difference. The beef in the tai pho was very good and tender. However, the broth becomes an unattractive cloudy color when it’s poured over it. This broth is also supplemented with additional additives. The condiments served with the pho were fresh as can be a delicious. However, the broth in both was a major letdown and I don’t like leaving poor reviews, but this is not a five star establishment. A good test for me is if I would return, unfortunately, I will not. It pains me to say this because I want to support small local businesses, but the truth is the pho is simply not worth...
Read moreI came across this restaurant after seeing the glowing reviews and promising photos - and my goodness! Sometimes places have inflated reviews, but this place truly deserves its high ratings!! Located in a basement, you could miss it - but what a shame that would be! Decorated vibrantly and beautifully, with cerulean walls and a detailed mural, the atmosphere is homely because of its small and intimate locating. The pho broth was tasteful and rich, with the noodles delightfully bouncy and light - we ordered the mutton, even though we maybe should’ve gotten the beef as it’s presented rather lovely in a teapot and clearly a popular to those in the know! The whole squid is light and fresh, and comes alongside a lovely tangy spicy sauce and even the little side carrot salad’s vinegary taste complimented this - the spring roll is more a wrap in size terms, and the batter itself was very crunchy seaweed in it was a great texture and surprisingly really enjoyable for something so simple! Most importantly, the food can also be vouched for from my notoriously picky mother x & Not to mention the kindest staff ever in the world only helps the food’s already banging taste - I had the most pleasant conversation with darling H, truly a girl’s girl!! Thank you for the great time...
