Food was great, saying its the best in London is a far reach though. I've had considerably better food and service (which I will get to) in the Borough Market area.
Now the service to get us seated was prompt and polite. However we were shown to a dirty table till the waiter rushed over to set a new table cloth and clean dishes and glasses away. Food took a short time to come out and lovely piping hot and tasted great. The Lebanese beer I ordered went well with the mezzes we ordered. And the house red was also well matched.
However the issue started when the bill came (often an issue at restaurants), we had been charged for a dish we hadn't ordered. We asked the waiter about it and he said "did you eat a cheese like dish" we said yes.
He said well that's what it is, I retorted to say that I hadn't ordered it and thought it was part of my main meal. He said why did you eat it. I again explained the waiter placed it down with my meal so I naturally assumed it was part of my meal (a platter, so naturally it had many different components). He finally relented and at this I also asked the 12.5% service fee to be removed, mostly out of I was being made to be the guilty party to a dish I hadn't ordered. Both were removed which is a considerable show of Goodwill by them. So be aware I subsequently spotted that they were putting these cheese stuffed pockets on each table, it may happen to you, depends whether you feel obliged to pay or not.
To end on a happy note the Baklava was...

We had an evening meal of several mezze dishes all of which very tasty so I can't fault the cook. When ordering the waiter kept trying to upsell hoummus which we told him no. It came anyway. Potatoes were substituted for a dish which we were told was the same value. It wasn't. House white became a more expensive bottle. Service was included as well as two other dishes we didn't order or receive so that was taken off the bill after complaining. I didn't notice the change in price of wine or difference in price of substitute dish until later. A dessert which we didn't order was placed In front of us I guess to keep us happy but I wonder if we weren't charged for that too.
Compulsory service charge for what ended up being a joke is a sore point. You don't need to do this. Can I recommend you actually write down your orders with a pen and paper. I would have gladly come back again but frankly you left me feeling swindled and embarrassed for having to argue down the bill.
Compliments to the chef but please for your own sake don't screw up...
Read moreWe drove couple of hours in the traffic to spend a family meal and it was huge let down. We had a reservation and arrived 10 mins early, got seated and waited 10-15mins for someone to come and take the order. We ordered drinks, starters and mains altogether (thanks to the 15mins wait time!) and I guess starters arrived in 10-15mins. Thereafter we waited an hour for the mains to be served with no luck. We followed up with someone twice in between who said food is on the way! Finally we lost our patience (9 year old was starving!) and asked for the bill to settle. We were asked “dont you want the mains” to that we responded, did you serve us the mains? There was no apology but was served the bill and we went to the KFC nearby for some quick service (no one else could accommodate us without reservation). We were all dressed up in our Christmas jumpers to have a meal with my mum who is visiting us from India for Christmas, but was hugely disappointed with the treatment and service. Surprisingly, all the people who came after us almost finished their mains by the time we were leaving. Maybe it was just us?? Anyway one restaurant in the “never to...
