I ordered pork ribs, beef in black bean sauce and egg fried rice.

Sadly, the ribs tasted so old and were bland and chewy. The sauce was sugary sweet and I couldn’t taste anything like star anise, cinnamon, ginger, garlic, hoisin, soy or five spice. It was just sugar and probably honey. When I asked about the recipe the waitress just said “that’s Pekin style”. Hmm….

The beef in black bean sauce was OK. Just average. But it was twice as expensive as usual because there were a few mushrooms in the sauce. Again, so sweet and not too much deep flavor

The egg fried rice was full of raw onion and even onion peel. Not good…

The service was good

The food got very cold very quickly because the tables are so close to the main entrance and it is cold inside. I’d recommend takeaway rather than eating in

The high cost (£50+) stopped me from giving 4 stars. It is unreasonably expensive for the quality.

Also, I was a little upset because I had read great reviews of this place and that it serves authentic Shanghai cuisine. When I asked for recommendations the waitress just said “get the duck”. I feel like she just chose the most expensive item on the menu, rather than actually help me. Plus I dined alone, so I wouldn’t have ordered duck.

Her second suggestion was the bamboo but I’ve tried it before and didn’t enjoy it.

She then pushed me to order beef in black bean sauce (yawn) but I was tired so I agreed. I just feel she could have been a little bit more helpful. She should be proud to showcase her national cuisine? Tell me what’s delicious and make me fall in love with...

As a Chinese diner, I can confidently say that our experience at Shanghai #10 in London was nothing short of spectacular. The flavours were so authentic that it felt like being back home in China. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were met with impeccable service—the staff were warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure we had an exceptional meal.

The Lion’s Head meatballs were absolutely perfect—succulent, tender, and generously flavoured. The sauce had the ideal balance of savoury and sweet, and the bok choy provided a light, refreshing contrast. It tasted exactly as it would in a top-tier restaurant back in China, which made the dish feel truly nostalgic.

The Braised Pork Belly was another standout, cooked to perfection with layers of soft, melt-in-your-mouth meat and a rich, caramelised glaze. The flavours were deep and satisfying, and the addition of broccoli brought a fresh, crisp texture that balanced the richness of the dish. The taste was so authentic that it immediately brought back memories of home-cooked meals.

Every aspect of the meal showcased the chef’s dedication to recreating the essence of Chinese cuisine with fresh ingredients and precise techniques. Dining at Shanghai #10 felt like finding a piece of home in the heart of London. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Chinese flavours—this is a place you don’t want to miss! We’ll definitely...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at No.10 Restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. As someone who has a fondness for traditional Chinese Shanghai-style cuisine, I was delighted to find that No.10 Restaurant offered an authentic culinary experience.

The food at No.10 Restaurant is truly exceptional. Each dish I tried was bursting with flavor, showcasing the rich and diverse culinary heritage of Shanghai. What impressed me even more was that my daughters, who typically have varying tastes, thoroughly enjoyed every dish, including some of the spicier options. It's rare to find a restaurant where every member of the family can find something they love, but No.10 Restaurant achieved just that.

In addition to the outstanding food, the service at No.10 Restaurant was impeccable. The waitstaff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, making our dining experience even more enjoyable.

The ambiance of the restaurant also deserves praise. From the elegant decor to the soothing background music, No.10 Restaurant creates an inviting atmosphere that transports diners to the vibrant streets of Shanghai.

Overall, I highly recommend No.10 Restaurant to anyone seeking an authentic taste of Shanghai in a welcoming setting. It's a dining experience that I won't soon forget, and I look forward to...

Just a 2 minutes walk from Earl’s Court tube station, super convenient, especially if you’re in the area or craving Chinese food after a museum visit. Ambience: Clean and tidy, with a simple but cozy vibe that feels like a proper local Chinese spot. Not too noisy, and tables are well-spaced. Service was friendly, and dishes came out at a decent pace. Food Review: 1. Sichuan Peppercorn Chicken (藤椒鸡): Tender chicken with a nice numbing kick from the Sichuan peppercorns—spicy but not overpowering. The sauce was light and refreshing, though I wished it had a stronger peppercorn punch. The cucumber strips on the side helped balance the heat. 2. Spicy Beef Tripe in Chili Oil (红油肚丝): The tripe had a good crunch, and the chili oil was fragrant, though not mind-blowing. Decent portion, but the garlic was a bit heavy (maybe skip this one before a date unless you both order it!). 3. Salt & Pepper Spare Ribs (椒盐排骨): Freshly fried, crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The salt, pepper, and garlic seasoning was spot-on—super addictive! A couple of pieces were a bit fatty, so best paired with tea or a cold drink. Verdict: A solid choice if you’re around Earl’s Court. Not a "game-changing" restaurant, but reliable for satisfying Chinese comfort food. Prices are fair. (Real, unpaid review—just a hungry foodie’s thoughts! 😆)
