A few things to recount including apparent discrimination: - first we waited for about 10min just to be able to order our food. I had to reach out to a server since they were not coming. - Once we ordered they took about 25 minutes to come with the order (only two noodle dishes). The reason: they were giving priority to their delivery orders. - Finally, when I attempted to use the lavatories, the manager stopped me, wondering why I was planning to use to the toilets. I had to point him out where I was sitting and if then it was ok for me to use the toilets. After all of this, I paid for the full meal to avoid any additional stereotyping that we were complaining just to avoid paying. Regarding the last point: the neighborhood is going through an intense gentrification process, so probably the manager thought I was a person from the neighborhood (Latin American), therefore not a customer of this fancier (?) business. Afterwards the server (another person), apologized and recognized that apparently they are dealing with gentrification consequences and locals. Needless to say, I am not planning to return. So if you look like you belong to that migrant neighborhood, I would think it twice before supporting this local. Food it’s ok, not amazing, you can certainly find more pleasant experiences.

When we saw that there was a half price offer from 6 to 8pm, the Chinese speaking staff enthusiastically introduced us and asked us to wait 5 minutes before ordering as it was not yet 6pm. We were looking at the menu and making small talk, only to be rudely interrupted by the white male staff at 5:59pm asking if we had decided yet. We then checked with each other to see what we wanted to eat and glanced at our phones to see if it was exactly 6pm before we asked the white male staff for the order. After we finished our dinner I was told that the order was completed at 5:59 so no half price. First of all, we were pretty sure it was 6pm when we started ordering, so I asked the Chinese speaking staff in Chinese to double check. He said he couldn't do it and asked us to speak to his supervisor, I said yes, please ask your supervisor to come over. So the white male staff came back to our table, pointed smugly at the tablet screen and said we ordered at 5:59 so we couldn't get a discount. I calmly replied that we had confirmed the time was 6:00 sharp when we ordered. He had to tell me that 5:59 was the point at which the order was sent to the kitchen, which was absolutely impossible. If he had insisted that the point at which he stood at our table and opened the tablet was 5:59 and that the order time started counting the moment he opened the tablet we would not have been able to refute it, but his insistence on claiming that 5:59 was the time at which he sent the order to the kitchen was hilarious. I told him that we confirmed the time was 6:00 when we started ordering, and then one by one checked the noodles, spicy, meat, without the spring onion or whatever. The whole process took two or three minutes, if not five. So it couldn't have been 5:59 when we finished ordering. At this point it has been very ugly because we are sure we are at 6 o'clock to start the order, so he had to argue with me about this 1 minute difference in time the whole thing seems ridiculous, will do business even if the customer really early order a few minutes will be directly at half price, right? The whole thing seemed ridiculous when he had to argue with me very loudly, with so many other customers watching. Then he continued to be unrelenting. I also insisted that we did start ordering at 6am and not 5:59am as he said, and I told him to go check the CCTV, so he puffed up and walked to the back, not knowing if he checked or not. Finally, he flung the bill and POS in front of me with the discounted bill and said forget it this time, I hope you don't do this next time 😅? What do you mean don't do that next time? Is it to stop ordering properly, to stop sticking to principles, or to stop arguing with you in the restaurant? I was laughing at him and replied that we will never come back again 🤭 昨天看到在做活动6点到8点半价,今天就来吃,点单前确认了一下哪几款在做活动,讲中文的店员热情地介绍还让我们等5分钟再点单,因为那个时候还没到6点 我们就边看菜单边闲聊决定一下今天吃啥,聊得热火朝天的,结果白男店员5:59时就粗鲁地站到桌前打断我和朋友的聊天问我们决定好了吗,我们就再互相确认一下吃啥,向白男开口点单之前特地看了一眼手机是刚好六点整的 吃完我顺便问讲中文的店员活动何时结束,想过两天再来,结果被告知订单显示5:59,不能半价。

A simple style and small eatery. We ordered the spicy beef murger, dumpling soup and biang biang noodles with house beef and slow cooked lamb. Murger meat was ridiculously salty and dripping with oil, though very flavoursome. So that’s a shame. The noodles were nice, but house beef was dry, lamb was tasty and tender. The dumpling soup was my favourite. Soup was flavourful and meat in the dumpling was tender. Service: Not impressed. Only 1 person took orders so we had to wait. Staff didn’t seem to know what’s in some of these dishes. Told us glass noodles came with the dumpling soup, it did not. My noodles had the wrong meat, staff couldn’t tell the difference between lamb and stomach/tripe. I asked them to go check the order as they brought the wrong one over. They need to train staff on the menu. It seems like staff were walking around with their heads in the cloud!!! Asked for the teapot to be refilled, it got taken away and not bought back. It’s such a tiny pot, don’t know why they don’t use a bigger one. It emptied after 2 small teacups were filled… And shut the toilet door if you’re going to use it!

Extremely disappointed with the lack of anything. I've been to the branch in Euston multiple times and have always had a great experience and was very excited to see there was one opened closer to home.

I understand that tonight was the official opening night and that the staff were very new and that there would be teething problems, however, the service was nonexistent especially considering we arrived when the restaurant was pretty empty. We ordered starters mains and drinks and only received the starters and drinks. Starters were just okay. My skewers were cold (I thought they were supposed to be warm) and my partner's murger was lukewarm. Flavours were nice.

Drinks which were a can of plum juice and a mango mocktail came after we had been sat there almost an hour. No staff came to check on us at all and we struggled to get staff to pay attention to us. We watched loads of other customers who came in a fair bit after us get served and received all their food when we'd only received our starters and were still waiting on our drinks.

After being there for almost an hour and a half we asked for the bill and still didn't get that after waiting a further 10 mins and still no staff checking on us so we decided to leave since we still weren't recieving any service whatsoever.

After we left, that was the only time the manager paid us any attention and decided to chase after us to settle our bill with an insincere apology and no offer to make things right. I'm really sorry but it's such poor taste to run halfway down the road to chase us for 2 juices and cold starters as if we were dine and dashers. You as a manager saw that our table had received no service the entire time we were there. You served us our starters and were sat at a table next to us as you conducted an interview (albeit separated by a glass wall but we were entirely visible). We tried to pay and were still ignored (the waitress we asked ended up just standing near the front for 10 minutes not doing anything) and were not going to wait another hour when we've received nonexistent service. The fact that the manager's first words were that we needed to settle the bill and not an apology was appalling. We refused to pay on principle especially as he did not even offer to make things right (or even offer us the food we'd been waiting 1.5 hours for!). The time for him to have done that should have been before we left.

Your staff is new yes, but the restaurant was empty and you as a manager are supposed to help smooth out where your staff may fail and ensure that your customers were still taken care of. Bad management and undertrained staff have really spoilt my impressions of this branch. I would recommend maybe spending longer on training your staff before opening and maybe work on having better customer service...

Murger Han Han's been one of our favourite restaurants since the first branch opened. As we are locals to South London we were anticipating the opening of the elephant and castle branch and we were hoping it will be exactly the same quality as the one in central.

What we initially thought to be a drop of quality in comparison to the other branches turned out to be a drop of quality to the brand in general. Still love the flavours and all but the biang biang noodles - sauce ratio is appalling. There's barely any topping or sauce on the noodles, which I am not sure if it is the traditional way or not, but is fairly disappointing, especially with the vegetarian options, as a main for almost £15.

You can balance out the dish if it's not enough by ordering some more noodles on the side but then again there's only so much noodles you can eat without falling asleep of gluten overdose and what you really need ultimately is more sauce and more flavour. Usually soy sauce, chilli oil and vinegar are provided so I can concoct a more fulfilling dish for myself.

I bring many of my friends here time to time to demonstrate how cool biang biang noodles are but frankly speaking I stopped coming as I feel like I don't get the value for my money at all.

I hope you will buff up the recipe a bit and add in an extra two three spoons of toppings just so I don't feel like I'm eating noodles with chilli oil only. Adding some dishes with fish to the menu would also be a nice idea.

Otherwise it's nice atmosphere and...

Visited for the 1st time on Friday sadly I don't think we'll be back. Vegetarian sides: gyoza, salad and tofu skewers. The gyoza were fine but arrived sometime after we'd had our mains. The tofu skin skewers were in a tasty sauce. The salad was made up of spinach in a similar sesame sauce, lotus root and edamame which sadly tasted like they'd just been defrosted (ice cold & dripping water all over the plate). I couldn't find a menu for this branch online but had seen other branches menus and thought there would be plenty of vegetarian options... but it wasn't as simple as I'd hoped. With rice noodles (avoiding wheat) I was offered a cold dish or a hot pot with a vegetarian tomato broth - ok. I ordered spicy and this wasn't. The broth reminded me of tinned tomato soup. Not very appealing sorry. My companion's noodle dish arrived in a huge bowl )over 1ft across) that left little room on our table for the sides or our drinks. Would have been a great sharing bowl but not for one person. Service was patchy - perfectly nice but not able to answer some of our questions and a bit confused. Our bill was lower than normal as there was a special offer on 11/11... 2mains , 1 beer, 2 tea and 3 sides would have been about £75. I can see potential but suspect the other branches currently offer a better...
