Not a place to watch sport. After advertising that they are playing the euros, they have taken the mick twice.

First occurrence, we had made a booking and when we arrive it turns out they have booked out the area for a function, the staff say it is fine as the others had moved back the booking until 7 so we can watch the match, 5 minutes before the end of the match (6:45) were asked to leave and I say there’s 5 minutes left they said no you have to leave now.

On a separate occasion for the final England match of the group stage, 5 tables of approx 4 each were watching the euros (the match the were advertising) then at half time they switched for the club World Cup, of which 4 people were watching, 2 of those left because the switched the tvs and could no longer see. During this time 5 people went to complain that we were all there to watch the euros - of which the bar man said okay we’ll change. The second half started and they did not switch back, instead they are blasting Doja Cat on the main screen. 1 table left fed up and went to another pub, they did eventually change it back (after asking another time to switch the sound) however, considering we booked both times specifically for this and the fact that there were more tables (and complaints) to watch one game and they didnt. Regardless of complaints yous could count 9 England shirts and 1 Chelsea shirt… who left at half time.

On another note, they are always out of different meals and beers and the toilets are disgusting.

This is our local pubs which we come for Sunday lunch and watch the football matches, not anymore.

Tried to say this to the manager but they wouldn’t come...

UPDATE I cannot fault the follow-up to my original visit. The pub made a very generous gesture to rectify the mess up of my original visit. A complimentary dinner for myself and several guests was provided. I couldn't fault the considerable effort made by them, and I could tell the team really cared about making this a much-improved experience. When things are going right this is a great pub for a bit of food and a bit of sport.

Original Review (1 star): Booked a table for 10 for a 3pm birthday Sunday Lunch. Waited 30 minutes for our table to be ready, after politely asking multiple times how long it would before we could be seated I was given vague answers from staff, we could see the table wasn't occupied so why couldn't we just sit down? On the third ask I was told we could sit, table half ready. We sat for another 90 minutes, nobody came to take an order, even after approaching staff to say we were ready. Ended up leaving after 2 hours, luckily we could go to the bar and order drinks ourselves otherwise we would have left a lot sooner.

On the way out the manager seemed confused as to why we decided to leave, said he'd told several members of staff to see to us... offered to make it up to me with a "free meal" if I left my details with him, so I did. This was almost a week ago, still haven't heard anything.

Sadly, probably one I...

The low rating is due to the non-existent customer service displayed by the front-of-house and wait staff. I've ordered a roast from here on Deliveroo several times and it's always good: big portion sizes, crispy roast spuds etc so the kitchen team are not the problem. However, I've eaten in the pub twice and on both occasions we had issues with the incompetence of the FOH and wait staff. I provided feedback after our visit and the team sent me a voucher as a goodwill gesture for the dire experience we had e.g. flagging staff down to order, placing the order and eventually having to go to the bar anyway because service was so slow despite the pub being quiet, asking to remove the service charge but it still being charged when we went to pay etc. On my second visit there were multiple issues with the FOH staff again. I don't know if they are just inexperienced, lack training support from their team, poorly managed or all of the above but if you are looking for an enjoyable in-house experience I would dine elsewhere and stick to only ordering a roast on Deliveroo from here. I provided feedback again after the second visit and didn't receive any reply which is of no surprise...

The reguar pub was already closed in the area so decided to try somewhere else. Neighbours mentioned that roast is decent so though I will give it a try. What a mistake! Ordered roast chicken which arrived with … pile of bell peppers! Everything on the place was barely warm. I have asked the waiter, what bell peppers are doing on the plate and if would be possible to have carrots or cabbage. The answer was ā€œnoā€ as they were busy for lunch so chefs had to improvise. Well if I wanted sweet and sour chicken I would’ve ordered Chinese take away. He politely said that will give discount. But it’s not about discount, I came to have nice meal not to eat leftovers. I have asked for some horseradish with the chicken but whatever I was given tasted like mix of horseradish powder with lots of vinegar and some grains. Do understand it’s not the waiters fault, chefs should’ve informed about changes first. The whole meal was complimentary but very disappointing - I would advise to concentrate on food and have better communication within the team, instead of giving discounts away.

We stopped here for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. Seems a lot of tables were reserved but we were quickly seated as were a party of 2 but if bigger I’d suggest you book to avoid disappointment. The food was good and arrived quickly same with desserts too. I would love the try the Sunday roast next time but this time I got some burger and fries as was in the mood. There’s a children’s menu and the waiting staff mentioned a promotion during the weekdays with children’s food. The staff were friendly and observant with our needs. One thing however was the ladies toilet was broken but provision was quickly made available in providing a cubicle in the men’s toilet which was neat and clearly labelled ā€˜Ladies’.

One of the "nouveaux" places in the Elephant Park. A mixture between a traditional pub and a restaurant. The decor is not much to write about, but the toilets are clean, even if they would require a little more maintenance. The food (I had the vegan burger and the "arancini") is decent, the chips amongst the best I tested, the "arancini" actually quite nice (although they could have put four for portion...). The music a little too loud and the place distinctly women friendly. They sell a selection of cocktails, wines and beers. The price is average and the service a little untogether but friendly. Good for a night out.
