Studio capacity - 10 people. Facilities - 2x changing rooms (curtain cubicles), 1x toilet (but not in the studio, upstairs in the building). Location - 5 min walk from Old street station, nearby many bus routs on Old Street/ City Road. Small convenience store, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants on the street and in immediate vicinity outside. Bicycle parking - Bicycle hoops around the corner on Bath street, or across the road right outside the Eagle pub on Shepherdess Walk. Noise level - Being in the basement, you are amazingly masked from the busy traffic on City Road, however due to creaky floorboards in the building you often hear the residents in the flats above coming and going from the building. Natural light - None. Space - This I believe is one of, if not the oldest MoreYoga studio and therefore it’s quite impressive to see how far the organisation has come! Yes, the basement is dingey, without natural light, and a bit smelly as it’s hard to ventilate… but it is still one of my preferred studios due to the small class classes and some of my favourite teachers give lessons here. This studio is also one of the few with a mirrored wall which is great for checking your posture in positions. And whilst the space is tight, there is actually more space between mats here than some of the newer studios which squeeze in the mats closer together. If you do not normally bring your own mat to practice on, I would recommend that you do here in particular, as it being quite old, the mats are quite worn out and do not have great grip. MoreYoga, it would be great if you could replace these 10 mats here please!! Be prepared to book in advance, as the 10 places do tend to fill up rapidly, and if you are waitlisted be aware of last minute cancellations which push you onto the list (especially the night before for the morning sessions). To enter the studio ring the bell and then listen carefully for a small click which releases the door- it is a subtle noise. (You will see, when you descend into the studio, that the door bell makes a very loud buzz, and it is quite frustrating when new visitors press this bell multiple times as they haven't realised the door has been released...!) Also as a courtesy to residents who live in the building, please make sure you close the door after you enter...
Read moreLove, love, love MoreYoga, amazing, passionate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and very helpful tutors- who explain everything without going to OTT on details, they also demonstrate movements and how to progress into further positions. Visited this location today - Old Street and Charlotte was the tutor. She was very knowledgeable and corrected our positions accordingly - in order to do the stretches adequately. She also demonstrated the various poses one can do as one improves on ones own yoga journey when building up strength, flexibility and confidence. The studio is tucked away and private with a great playlists and surround sound. They offer a variety of yoga types and class times throughout the day. Also open 7 days a week. What more can you ask for! They have a great rewards programme and introductory offers for new comers and for your friends too. All locations are close to tube stations too. Super easy to use booking...
Read moreI am not one to leave a review on anything I haven't tried a few times. I completely love this venue. I agree the low ceiling ( I am 6' 2") is an issue and when the class is full is can get a bit challenging on space in the class but I believe that comes with the territory of smaller classes. I prefer the smaller classes as you get more attention from the instructors. I attend the rocket classes and the vinyasa classes. At the start the instructor checks on everyone's ability level and for injuries and adjusts the practice to suit. That kind of flexibility is lost in some studios and I really like that about this venue. The instructors are very knowledgeable and very helpful and always present many difficulty variations and encourage you to try them out helping with technique. If I was a really advanced yogi this may not be the best place but for someone in their first...
