It’s a small but elegant and perfectly formed space at the end of East Street closest to Bromley North station. I was in search of a quick lunch before appearing in that rarest of beasts a contested divorce case in the County Court. Nam Thai more than fitted the bill. Although only one other table was occupied at about 12.15pm when I went in those in the party all looked of Thai extraction which was a good sign in itself. By the time I had left at 1pm quite a few more tables were filling up. And not at all surprising given the value of a 2-course lunch for £7.95 not to mention the range of food in offer. I opted for something described as a Chaophrya set lunch which at first blush seemed to describe different options such as red prawn curry and stir-fried chicken with cashew nuts but they were both included with a bowl of fluffy rice. Read moreI was quite excited as I saw Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao) in the menu, so came in and ordered one...
Unfortunately, I was not served a Drunken Noodles! It was flat noodles and it got some basil in it, but other than that it had nothing to do with Pad Kee Mao: the taste, the herbs, even the veggies which are optional anyways, it had an egg (it shouldn’t), and it was not even spicy!! Blasphemy!!
I’ve spent months in Thailand and this has nothing to do with Drunken Noodles, not by a long shot... edible and OKish but...
It was also not mentioned which meat comes with it so I asked got squid and genuinely asked if it’s the same price, only then she decided to charge me more because of squids..
Did not bother to ask me whether I liked the dish etc. so customer service was not interest/ caring at...
Read moreWe booked, we arrived, we waited at the door for a minute or so before someone finally noticed us. Maybe I should where a hi vi's jacket next time. No tablecloths or proper napkins, felt more like a cafe with tissues blowing everywhere. When my wife booked she asked not to have a table near the toilets, and obviously, we ended up with a table near the toilets, a dead cert, seeing as we were new to the restaurant. Food was nice though, but it was barely worth the price. I've not seen a rice priced at £11.50 before, seriously, that's the Nam Thai Fried Rice verses the steamed rice, a difference of £8. There was nothing special for Valentines, not even a Happy Valentines from the staff. They weren't very friendly so it was a quick visit and nothing special to return...
