A Distinctive and Flavourful Vegetarian Dining Experience
I’d been meaning to try this place for a while, and I’m glad I finally did. This vegetarian restaurant offers a creative twist on familiar favourites like chaat and mogo, presenting them in a way that feels both innovative and comforting.
One standout is their Palak Naan — made by blending spinach juice directly into the dough. You don’t taste the spinach itself, but it gives the naan a subtle dryness and a vibrant colour. This isn’t a flaw; in fact, it adds a unique texture and appeal.
The chaat was excellent — perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and sauce, and full of crunch. Each ingredient was discernible, contributing to a delightful mouthful every time.
The Chilli Lime Mogo packed bold Indo-Chinese flavours, heavy on the garlic and coriander. While the taste was fantastic, the mogo was a bit overcooked, lacking the softness I typically enjoy with this dish. The extra crunchiness was a bit much, but the seasoning made up for it.
Next up, the Tandoor Chick’n Tikka Masala. Since it’s a vegetarian spot, the "chicken" is made from soya. The texture and flavour understandably differ from traditional poultry, but it's a worthwhile experience. The dish is flavourful, and with an open mind, you'll appreciate the creativity behind it.
A pleasant surprise was finding Khaman Dhokla on the menu — usually available only until 4 PM as part of their brunch. The chefs were kind enough to prepare it for dinner. This dish really took me back to India: soft, airy dhokla topped with sev and served with coriander chutney — simple, wholesome, and nostalgic.
From the curry selection, I went for three Chefs Specials:
Baingan Bharta: This paired wonderfully with tandoori roti. The standout flavour was its smokiness, suggesting it was roasted or charred just right — a true mark of an authentic Bharta.
Paneer Angara: I was expecting a smoky profile here too, as this dish is typically made with tandoori paneer and infused with coal smoke. Instead, it came with rich, buttery, stringy cheese sauce and cubed paneer. Quite heavy and a bit oily — something I might’ve managed better by requesting less oil. Still, it was delicious and satisfying.
Chick’n Achaari: Think of it as a rich blend between butter chicken and tikka masala, featuring soya-based tandoori pieces in a creamy, mild, red gravy. Bold and indulgent — a great option, though I’d recommend asking for extra spice if you like your curries hot.
For drinks, the menu offers everything from beers and wines to smoothies and mocktails. What really stood out was the creative cocktail selection. I opted for a Kombucha and a Classic Nimbu Soda — refreshing choices that I don’t often get the chance to enjoy outside.
All in all, the menu bursts with flavour and innovation. Whether you're a vegetarian or simply curious, I’d absolutely recommend trying this place — and maybe even going back again if it suits your palate. Special thanks to the staff for their warm service, flexibility, and great...
Read moreLast evening, we celebrated my husband's birthday with a few friends at the restaurant. We were pleased to have booked our table in advance, as the restaurant was quite full.
While reviewing the menu, we discovered that the restaurant was meat-free. Although we are vegetarian, but our friends love non-vegetarian food, so this was initially concerning. When we told this to Hemisha, she assisted us with our order, assuring us that our friends would appreciate the plant-based meat options, and she was correct! Our friends enjoyed their first order of plant-based chicken and subsequently ordered other plant-based non-vegetarian items, which they thoroughly enjoyed. We were relieved that both our friends and their children loved the food.
We thoroughly enjoyed their vegetarian cuisine. There were 12 of us, and we ordered a wide variety of dishes, from papadums to rice, naan, and even dessert! Our favorites included the beetroot kebab, paneer angora, mushroom fried rice, spinach chaat, mirch pakoda, dal makhani, navratan, brownie, chocolate cake, and Hindustan dessert. Their drinks were also quite good.
I would like to specially mention Hemisha for her assistance in ordering our food, which was exceptionally delightful. I also requested her to bring a small cake and play the "Happy Birthday" song for my husband's birthday, and she performed this task beautifully. Their efforts significantly enhanced the beauty and enjoyment of my husband's birthday celebration.
The ambience was lovely, and I found their artifacts to be interesting and impressive. The staff were also helpful and friendly. I would gently suggest perhaps slightly faster service in the future, though I understand that being fully booked last night may have contributed to some...
Read moreI'm sorry to say, I personally did not have a good experience here. Went in craving dosa, it wasn't very good - dry and unpleasant to eat. The main problem though was the lack of experienced staff in front-of-house. Customers only interact with very young staff, who might be students working part time, and while they are lovely and pleasant, they're also inexperienced and the restaurant hasn't placed a manager who can solve problems with customers. I waited for my appetizer for close to 40 minutes, AFTER my main course was done. I asked for a follow up, and requested the waiter to cancel if they'd forgotten the order, the poor kid checked for me, probably didn't have the authority to cancel it and requested me to wait. After waiting for another 15 minutes I had to walk out after paying for the missing appetizer because the waiter HAD to charge for it and the staff stopped coming to my table as they did not have my food. It is not a cheap restaurant, I would expect you to invest on some experienced staff members to run the customer facing part of your business. EDIT: Changing my review to 1-star after your reply. I live close to your restaurant and know which location I visited. I've attached my bank's statement that shows...
