I really like Nando's but I made a mistake visiting this particular branch. The chicken was dry and grey (look at pictures). I reached out to a lady staff member (one with pink hair) who was very rude to me and told me that this is how it is. When I told her I'm really not comfortable eating something that doesn't look quite right, she told me that it was my choice. [Well I'm not going to eat trash on my plate because you served me right?] After arguments, when she wouldn't replace my chicken, I told her well ok I'll speak with someone else. And she told me no one will help you. When I reached out to another girl who looked like she was new or very junior, she panicked and told me there's nothing she can do beyond the staff who was just rude to me. And finally I was about to give up when this guy staff came by asking if everything was ok and I explained showing him my plate. He convinced me by saying he will replace two of the 4 thighs in my plate and asked me to eat the two existing thighs (which looked better than the other 2) in my plate.
[I don't understand??? If some of the food in the plate is spoilt , do you ask your customer to eat some of them and throw the rest?]
I was humiliated and asked him to replace all. At this point I should have actually left. But I waited hoping they would do something to make it up to me. But nooo! They brought even worse chicken. This one was even more bad. It felt like they did it out of spite. So I gave up and was trying to finish up my potato wedges and leave. After like 15 mins, he came up to my table again. So I thought he came to ask me if everything is ok now. But no!!!! He asked me if he can clear the plates when I had not even taken a bite of that chicken. I argued again that the chicken looked so grey, it was clearly spoilt. He was so rude to me and just argued with me and walked away with my plate. I already paid 9 pounds for that chicken. Do you really think I'll make up stories to not eat what I paid for or to get a refund ??? All I wanted was to eat LUNCH. But I had to walk away with an empty stomach and they didn't even have the slightest courtesy to ask sorry and if they could atleast refund my money back if I'm leaving the restaurant without eating it. But I'm so glad I didn't eat it because otherwise I would have had a stomach ache. But lost my money and unfortunately I would never go back to another Nando's again due to this incident...
Read moreWent yesterday with my teenage daughter. Absolutely appalling customer service, particularly from a young lady called Loreno/Lorena something like that. The food was decent, but the table next to us was left uncleaned for some time - which invited a host of flies to buzz around the chicken bones which were left on the uncleaned table.
When I went to order my food the girl serving me would clearly rather have been anywhere else; she was abrupt when speaking with me, had no urgency about her and - I’m almost certain - mumbled something under her breath when I asked her to repeat something. I raised this with the manager - who seemed like a nice enough guy - and he said he would mention it to the staff member in question. We all have bad days at work, but this girls attitude stunk.
10 minutes later I can see my food on the side going cold. The same girl, Loreno/Lorena, thought it was more important to stand around with her hands on her hips than to bring our food over. Despite my daughter thinking it was funny that I had to go and collect our food from the counter, I really should not have had to do this. When I did I was met with looks of confusion from the staff - however nobody felt fit to mention anything to me.
To top it off - there were no forks available! I was told that they were all in the dishwasher. All of the forks in the restaurant, at 5pm in the evening, in the dishwasher. Go figure.
I don’t expect haute cuisine when I visit Nando’s, but I do expect to be treated with respect and to experience a decent level of customer service. This did not happen yesterday, and as a result I won’t eat in this...
