This is a good Nandos. My family wanted to treat me with a birthday meal. So we needed something slightly intimate. The restaurant we picked'd closed down, sadly.
I really didn't want to wander up and down Upper Street on the off chance. I needed somewhere not too crowded, so we could hear each other talk, where there would be at least competent service and food in a setting at least amenable to families.
Of course, to an extent we have to serve some things ourselves. All we can ask for is good queue management and patience when ordering with the options. Despite the pressures of helping prepare food, serving and taking orders, the young probably uni students delivered that.
This is all down to good management to an extent. The manageress that day asked us personally near the end how we were instead of avoiding that aspect to manage the team. Nandos vary, Upper Street Nandos is well run relative to others and I'm glad J can go to that one with friends or family.
Saying all that, our child is not a toddler or baby, I cannot speak to those aspect to parents of younger children, but I...
Read moreOrdered the family platter which included 2 chickens and 5 large sides. Moments after ordering they brought it to our table (probably 3 minutes later). Chicken and fries were dry and had no doubt been sitting around which is annoying as I believe Nandos prides itself on making your food to order. I wish I sent it back as we spent about £70 for the meal with drinks which is not cheap. Staff seemed ok and generally helpful. The restaurant is annoying in terms of layout as you have to walk upstairs to collect your own plates and cutlery which for 5 people is quite dangerous. Toilets were not well maintained and there was no paper, floor was wet and the lights weren’t working and dangling by their own wires. I believed the restaurant was renovated but certainly didn’t feel like it and seemed really tired and worn out. Staff forgot our drinks order a couple of times and we continually had to remind them that not everything had come out. One of our party members wanted to order at the counter and that took a very long time waiting to be served. Probably won’t...
Read moreI have been going to this Nandos for over 15 years, but was incredibly disappointed recently when I went with a friend and received a well below par meal. This is not what Nandos has come to be known for and for this reason I am writing the review. My meal was overcooked, badly presented and was not as ordered but was revised after we had paid and were seated. This visit followed one previously a couple of weeks prior when I went with a friend close to but not at closing time and was told that they were closed. When the time was pointed out I was then told there was no more chicken left. The two visits being close together and so disappointing indicates that something has gone awry with the current management at that particular outlet. I am writing the review as this needs to be addressed. The community in Islington has been using this Nandos for many years and do not wish this unit fall into a slap dash...
