Old King's Head — Restaurant in London

This is a nice little place in the middle of beardy Shoreditch. It's off the beaten path compared to most other drinking establishments that get frequented, but that's not to say it doesn't get busy.

There are a few things going for it that you don't normally get around the area....

It has an outside area with some tables and seating, so great for a sunny day. Plus the road that it's on isn't that busy, so you can have a conversation without raising your voice.

The food here is CHEAP. Standard pub fare... Fish finger sandwiches, burgers, steak sandwiches etc. All around the £5 - 7 mark and they all come with fries.

The drinks are cheap relatively speaking too. So it's not a bad place to go for a Friday work lunch, or drinks in the evening and maybe getting a bite to eat after that second (or third,...

This is a good size traditional corner boozer with no frills or gimmicks. The beer was good and the food is very reasonably priced, they are open from 8am for those in search of a full english. The atmosphere was lively on this busy Tuesday evening with plenty of office workers enjoying an after work drink. Billy Ocean (Caribbean Queen) was playing in the background which brought a smile to my face as it reminded me of being at a school disco but cemented the fact that this was a pub which didn’t need to change the formula of pubs of old. . Open as usual in the middle of a pandemic, causing two streets to be blocked by the crowd of customers, allowing people to go in for their orders, and risking the safety of their staff. Never going there again.

edit - to respond to the response, ignoring the fact that it shouldn't have been open at all in April, nobody was eating, these crowds were all standing around drinking, and the pub did nothing to ensure any social distancing/deter people from gathering. Which is why the streets were blocked. I liked that they left their "we
