The experience we had tonight with my partner has been the worst so far we experienced. We came here in shoreditch, as I usually go to another branch and do like a lot the food (kingly court). We were really surprised as the staff treated us like we were bothering them. No one came to welcome us and we had to wait some time. It seemed that they were understaffed but the waitress we had was kinda rude in her behavior. She was unattentive and careless, like she didn't want to be there. She then seated us at a table and brought us the menu, but rushed us as it was 9pm to order. I do understand as the restaurant was closing at 10pm, but still she pressured us, and finally never came back for the drinks. We had to ask another waitress for it. Apparently she was annoyed that we came at this hour, but she shouldn't have acted this way. It was very unpleasant and anxious to feel it as we remained polite and nice to her all the evening. She never brought any water. We ordered 2 starters and 2 ramens. She forgot the chopsticks and we had to ask her about it. The starters tasted awful. The gyozas were burnt and it seemed that the brochettes were tasteless. My partner had the tonkontsu ramen and the pork was greasy and the broth tasteless. Mine was awful as well. The staff never noticed anything and never asked if the food was ok or if we enjoyed it. It was like we have been invisible all the evening. The waitress never brought us the bill, I had to go at the cashier to ask it to her. She added the service charge and didn't ask us for it, so I refused to pay for it and asked her to take it off. She then started to look really annoyed and acted really rude toward us, and we left. It was the first time for my partner and he was really disappointed by this restaurant. I am really angry and I do think it was overpriced for the service and the food we had. I will come back to the branch I used to go, but I will never come back to this one in shoreditch. I am really upset and I don't recommand it at all. We just wasted our evening and 50£....
Read moreI came to Shoryu today for my 30th birthday, after many pleasant visits, however, today, my god; it was atrocious. We booked a table and after having received FOUR automated emails in regard to the booking, we arrived (on time) and were shown, apathetically, to our table by staff who appeared almost bored. We were instructed to use QR codes to order our food and drink, despite staff taking orders from nearby adjacent tables in person upon arrival. We obliged, as nobody seemed to be available when we needed to order. No water was delivered to our table - after fifteen minutes, we asked a member of staff for some and it was begrudgingly delivered. The food that arrived was of an acceptable standard, so we cannot fault the chefs in this instance. The issue was more the service. Never were we once asked how our meal was, or if we wanted top ups on drinks or water. Bizarre, considering we had already been required to pay a service charge in advance by dent of the QR code ordering system. Whilst I understand that a no-contact ordering system may have been required in previous years, this is no longer something that customers should have to navigate - the restaurant was half full at best, and service incredibly slow or in our case virtually non-existent. Deliveroo and Just Eat orders were arriving whilst we were seated and seemed to be the priority above diners in the restaurant. This was supposed to be a lovely end to the day for my birthday, but descended into something of a joke. I'll be awaiting your response on how...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I are still in the process of finding the words to describe this experience. Luckily, the situation was so absurd that we found it funny.
While we were still eating, the supervisor came to our table, stating that the place would close in 10 minutes. When I pointed out that we hadn't finished our meal, the supervisor mentioned they had takeaway containers for us to finish our dinner at home. LOL.
At 22:00, the staff deliberately left the main entrance door open to let the cold in, as a sign for us to leave. This became crystal clear when they closed the door behind us as soon as we exited the place at 22:15 .
We are still speechless, but at least we are laughing about it.
I am modifing the review, with the hope you are going to see it as an answer to your reply. Probably you did not see anything or your cc because we were there a week ago: Sunday 03/12/2023 (I still have the receive). A door can be left open with anything in front of it. Your staff made us aware about your timing, however we had and we still have a screenshot, about our reservation for 9:00 p.m. saying that we were going to have time till 22:30. But not to worries we are a ramen couple, we always go in many ramen bars and we are regular of specific ones, I am sure we will be able to find the right...
