I will never come again, and you could take as the reference before you decide to go! I visited Old Spike Elephant & Castle on Sunday 2pm with high hopes, but left utterly disappointed. The staff's attitude was the first red flag. They were outright rude, blatantly ignoring questions from customers, especially to me and my wife, which created an unwelcoming atmosphere. Moving on to the coffee, it was a letdown. The taste was far from what you'd expect from a specialty cafĂ© – it was bland and left a rather unpleasant aftertaste. The only redeeming factor was the tart, which was just okay in taste but nothing to rave about. It's sad to see such potential being overshadowed by poor service and average offerings. I had hoped for a better experience but, unfortunately, I won't be returning or recommending this place.

We stopped by with my partner and our dog, choosing to sit outside since there was limited seating indoors. The coffee here is excellent, and the pastries are worth trying. We shared an almond croissant and a cinnamon bun, both of which were delicious. The outdoor tables and chairs provide a pleasant spot to enjoy your treats. I’ll return for more coffee and pastries.

I got a latte and it tasted burnt And the almond croissant was undercooked and the pastry was still gooey The above made worse by the poor attitude by the rude staff this is without a doubt the worst “high end“ coffee shop I’ve been to £7.60 for these two items is a scam

This is the best coffee place for quite some distance around - the coffee and taste is superb. I have been going here regularly since it opened as I work very close by at the nearby university and the staff are always friendly and welcoming.

I don't usually make a point of reviewing everywhere I go, but the one star scathing review before mine really hacked me off - the reviewer is clearly an entitled influencer-wannabe look-at-me-please kind of person, as evidenced by all the videos he seems to have taken, surely without anyones consent or consideration. I go here regularly, as do loads of my colleagues, and can vouch for it...

Don’t go. I stopped by on a quiet Sunday morning - no other customers. Ordered a double espresso. Barista gave me a small coffee that was just sitting there. When I asked her if it was prepared freshly and she said just a short while ago. And checked if it was a double (it was tiny) and she said yes. Drank it and it was below lukewarm temperature. Not sure why you’d want to cheat your customers over something so small. Went down the road to St John’s and had a freshly made (hot!) double...
