I was very lucky to secure a voucher from Time Out to try this restaurant. One of the many little restaurants hidden away on Charlotte Street, very close to Goodge street station but nice and quiet.
Staff member was lovely explaining to me all the options: I went for the Pilav rice, Turkish beef stew in tomato & garlic sauce, Humus, Baked Turkish pancakes with courgettes & carrot and Cloudy apple juice.
My photo does not do the food justice - The rice was perfectly cooked, the beef very tender and such a great portion, the humus one of the best I have ever had, and the pancakes which never tried before were really nice. Plus top marks on the apple juice which a lot of the time is quite poor in restaurants. But this tasted like straight out of the orchard with cox's apples.
Main's cost from £5.90 onwards, and they also do Pides and Turkish bread.
They have tables inside and out, and the establishment was spotlessly clean. The food is really filling and tasty and for central London very...
Read morewe have been there many times and it had always been a pleasure until last time - shop might still be good but they surely killing their reputation by hiring incompetent waitresses. we were fasting when we visited last time and wanted to have a bite that reminds back home. we arrived the place around 8.45 and the cook/waitress was smoking and chatting outside with his friends then he came inside once we settled and we asked if that is ok that we wait for 10 min and then order so we can eat while it is warm. then waitress/cook said the place will close in 9.30 (I checked before and website said it will close at 10.30), at this point we could of course eat 2 lahmacun in 15min and leave but he obviously did not want us there and made it very clear we should not sit down. never heard him saying sorry and not felt any sympathy, he was plain rude. it was the first time we went out whole Ramadan and ended up eating KFC because it was too late to go to restaurant and order...
Read moreI've always had a good experience with Pide on Charlotte St. Been to the place twice before. However on this occasion, service was very poor. There was a change in staff. Usually, there is a young guy always on the ball with orders and communication with the back. This time there were two ladies, seemed very nervous and didn't really have a clue. I'm not sure they are ready to serve multi customers. I order the lamb Pide and coke zero, I was told the tills were down. Got my coke zero and was requested to wait but the order had been put through. 20 mins later, I realised that customer before me had been served and were being served. I went up to the till to see what was up only to be told that they didn't put my order through and had to wait longer for my order!!! With a short lunch window, I had to walkout and grab a quick bite from Prets few doors down....
