Having parked my car outside the restaurant, on getting out I accidentally caught a leg on the 'pointy corner' of the car door. What I first believed to be a graze to my leg, since the trouser fabric was intact, in fact turned out to be something somewhat more serious. When I sat down at our table, I noticed that blood was streaming onto the restaurant floor. There was little pain, though my trouser and sock had by now been soaked with the precious fluid! Inquiring after a first aid kit, almost immediately the manager, DAVID, appeared with said kit together with some staff and proceeded to staunch the flow with innumerable napkins and provided a bandage which my wife wrapped around the wound. And, of course, the floor was back to its pristine self. By now things were settling down, the leg just a bit 'sore' but no further spillage. I was looking forward to continue with the purpose of visiting the renowned eatery; we were with friends and I was getting hungry by the minute. We completed a tasty meal but I missed what I thought would be a 'signature dish' of an Ottolenghi restaurant: a fine middle-eastern Hoummus with all the trimmings and pita. Sadly, this had been on the menu but replaced not long prior to our visit. Neverthless, David kindly rewarded us for my tribulations with delicious complimentary desserts. I cannot commend all at O's highly enough for their attentive 'emergency' service and support. David even called me the following morning to see how I was feeling and progressing. I declined to inquire whether the restaurant possessed a defibrillator should I visit again...
After we'd finished, around 11pm, the decision was taken to go the nearby Royal Free Hospital's A & E. The sustained injury was akin to a superficial knife stab, possibly needing stitches. What might have been an all night wait was out of the question, without proper prior cleansing of the wound and dressing; the 'clinic' was full, overflowing into the corridor and no seating available. I have chronic back pain and unable to stand for long periods. With this hospital reportedly known for sepsis outbreaks, and on the advice of a volunteer in the department, in order to avoid a potential infection, I decided to go home. The 'National ILL Service' is now in a catastrophic state and letting us all down! The next day I attended a local private Urgent Care Clinic and treated successfully within half -an -hour. A number of follow-ups were necessary with repeated cleaning and dressing changes. A very sad reflection on a public health service. Despite its many areas of undoubted excellence, has just lost its way in providing the necessary services and care in a timely and effective fashion for the everyday mishaps we...
Read moreI wanted to share a quick review but to also express my thanks to Amy and her team for such excellent service. I urgently needed something fresh and suitable for a last minute private jet flight out of the UK and I immediately thought of Otttolenghi. It has always been a favourite of mine due to the taste, freshness and presentation. I placed my order directly on the website just a couple of hours before for delivery along with very special and specific instructions. Everything was beautifully packed and presented and the food was super yummy! I don't have photos because I was so busy in the air looking after my clients but everything went down so well with them. A BIG THANK YOU to Amy specifically as I had challenges receiving my order due to traffic delays on my side but Amy given the circumstances went out of her way to ensure to food reached me even an hour after my chosen time of delivery.....I cannot thank her enough. Amy and her team were patient, polite and super accommodating and took all of my stress and anxiety away over a very pressured few hours. So glad that I am back with Ottolenghi as I used to make high volume orders for a banking company I worked with in Mayfair. Just some feedback for the other branches.....please answer your phones during stated reachable hours. Of 4 branches I called, I could only reach Islington and Hampsted who were both very helpful. Thank you once again, I will be making more orders for flights...
Read moreOttolenghi Hampstead delivers on its reputation with vibrant Middle Eastern–inspired fare, beautifully plated salads, inventive small plates and irresistible pastries. The 32 Rosslyn Hill venue feels light, modern and inviting, with a lovely terrace perfect for brunch or afternoon cake. Service is attentive and friendly, guiding you through the array of dishes—salads brimming with za’atar‑spiced veggies, shakshuka, smoked labneh, farinata with mushrooms—and a curated drinks menu featuring natural wines and seasonal cocktails .
Unlike the Chelsea or Notting Hill branches, Hampstead introduces exclusive plates crafted just for the neighbourhood, blending artistic presentation with deep, satisfying flavours . While prices lean upscale—as expected here—the quality justifies it: the spices are bold, ingredients fresh, and every dish feels thoughtfully layered .
Ambience-wise, it’s airy and modern, with chipboard‑style walls softened by an orange banquette—but lacks the traditional cosy charm of Hampstead’s older cafés . Still, the food utterly redeems the setting.
All told, Ottolenghi Hampstead is a stellar addition to the area: perfect for grazing on bright salads, sipping amaro‑accented cocktails, or indulging in...
