Read moreAgree with similar recent reviews - for the right person this is a great place. We were quite happy here, and if it wasn't for the issues with the water (well documented in other reviews) I would have given it a 5. As such I am in the 3.5 - 4 range. Still pretty happy with our choice.||||Why you stay here: Prime location in upscale Hampstead, just a few yards walk from the underground (northern line). Great pub atmosphere down below. "shabby chic" (as previously described) rooms. Actually a fair amount of space. Good interactions with staff. Look out after yourself for the most part. Price, comparatively speaking, is competitive with budget conscious properties in Earls Court, Bloomsbury - Kings X, etc. ||||Not for: Anyone who is looking for a refined "boutique" hotel experience. These rooms are not like the bistros on Hampstead's high street. These are pub rooms above a fun traditional bar - an inn. Music playing possibly till 11, and you will hear it.||||Our room (Adelaide), was charming - but yes there are dings in the trim, chips cracks, wallpaper needs some updating etc. It's an old building. The big caveat and know before you go is the plumbing is real tricky. Sometimes when you turn on the hot water no water comes out of the spigot at all - you have to wait 15 minutes before the water gets primed or whatever - but the end of our 3 night stay we had figured out some tricks to get it to respond. Also the tank for the toilet takes forever to fill up - it won't flush a second time for 10 - 15 minutes. I get it old building and all - but there are lots of old buildings that have functional plumbing. There is an extra toilet right outside the room in the corridor which we used a couple times. But you don't pay for ensuite to leave your room to go to the bathroom.||||Anyway - if you are wiling to fuss with the water issues, then this place is in the right place at the right price point with a great vibe. Give it a try eyes open. I would stay again if in hampstead, but we are cool with this style of...
