Have been going for years, not coming back though, subpar service. The bald person is very rude and over-enforcing ârules and regulationsâ. Not a single other establishment asked us for email addresses of all the guests, apart of the phone number and full name. NHS app is NOT mandatory, and we choose not to use it.
We also choose not to visit âyourâ pub anymore. We had enough of your mistreatments. You even invented a âsmoking benchâ in the garden. Nobody does that, you either have or donât have a smoking area. A âsmoking benchâ is the most ridiculous thing a pub can think of. But of course, we understand, you want to attract as many customers, although if East-Europeans try to come to have a drink you feel the urge to be rasist and send them away inventing reasons of non-compliance, and just because you proud yourself on being a Landlord and doing whatever you feel like doing. Guess what, others are Landlords too, and even British citizens, even though they donât look English. The stigma that you have expressed by refusing us a table is absolutely dishonorable for someone who claims to be a British citizen. Isnât UK a country with zero tolerance towards discrimination? You have demonstrated it is not.
Last September when we were there with our friends for a celebration, the staff were extremely rude especially the bald guy, all running around like headless chickens, not to mention food was just below any standard possible. We have given you plenty of chances to change something, you donât deserve any more of our time and money.
Yes, all the guests have the right to write as many reviews as they have to, so that other people will not be so mistreated, and in exchange for money, of course!
If you want utter rudeness, disgusting food and the worst service, go to this pub.
If you want value for your money and good customer service, go LITERALLY...
Read moreReally disappointing dining experience this evening. I visited with my other half and her mother who was visiting from Belgium. The greeting was poor and really set the tone for the rest of the evening. They were unaware of our booking which was made a week in advance and then we were told to wait for our seat when there were so many available seats. We were left to stand with no idea of how long they would be, very much giving the impression that we were forgotten about. I should add that this was a similar experience to when visited about two months ago, at this time I put it down to a âone offâ but clearly this is a recurring problem.
Starter - we ordered a couple of starters; croquettes and a pork pie. I was utterly shocked that my girlfriendâs mum was served a pie that she could not put her knife through...unbelievably they had served her a frozen pork pie. When I informed the waitress, she did apologise and kindly informed me that this would be removed from the bill. Sadly the service just continued to slide downhill from there...
Mains - my partner did not get served the ingredients as described in the menu; no pig in blankets with her roast chicken. My roast beef tasted was thin and chewy and not very appetising at all.
Insufficient cutlery on the table at the time that the mains were served; then the waitress still bought the incorrect cutlery after this was pointed out to her. If my eyes served me correctly, the same waitress was then seen drinking beer as we were leaving the pub. That may explain why I had to get up and then approach the barman to pay the table bill.
If you want poor quality service and substandard food at a cost of over ÂŁ100 then please do go to the Roebuck in Hamspstead. If you want just basic courtesy in combination with good food then you can find that just about any other dining establishment...
Read moreEver been invisible? I wish I could post something positive about this place and my experience. I was brought in yesterday evening by a friend who lives in the area, after visiting a relative at the Royal Free over the road, and at first glance it was a beautiful pub filled with people having a great time. We went to the bar, with one other customer in front of us. The 2 male barstaff were the slowest I have seen this decade, and perhaps the most myopic. Immediately a young, blonde lady arrived, we disappeared from view, and remained invisible until 3 more customers had been served. This despite answering and waving as they asked who was next. The bar is about 4 people wide, and we were obviously waiting. My friend felt so uncomfortable that she suggested another pub down the road, with superb service. I asked why they had looked past us 3 times, and they simply looked confused. Having read the other reviews, and the highlighted lack of professional service, I would not recommend this place at all, despite its beauty. Happily spent our money elsewhere. EDIT: The "owner' did reply to my email and to this review, but seems deliberately misinterpreted my words. The staff were male, the blonde lady was another customer who arrived 2 minutes after we were at the bar, not a member of staff. In neither this response nor the email did they offer anything like an apology, instead impugning the veracity of our review. Message to 'owner' : YOU HAVE MANY BAD REVIEWS, READ THEM AND TAKE NOTE. DO NOT OFFER EXCUSES BUT TRAIN YOUR STAFF WELL Additional Edit: The 'owner' also contacted TripAdvisor to complain that my review there broke their guidelines. As I used the exact words you can see above it obviously didn't and, after reviewing, TripAdvisor posted it. You can't escape responsibility for bad service by...
