I loved this cafe and have been coming with friends and family and for solo trips since it opened. I've also been recommending to others. They do great coffee, lovely brunch items and yummy cakes. Up until recently, they were also very welcoming. However, over the last 2 weeks we've been in twice and on both occasions the same member of staff had been unwelcoming and I would say on our last visit very unprofessional. The first time I let it go as everyone has bad days and I can see they get very busy, but this time we were with friends and it was really embarrassing and uncalled for. On a separate note, we had to wait over 45 mins for 3 sandwiches. We weren't in a rush, so had this been explained it would have been fine, but instead we were left sitting with no idea of what was happening and no apology when they finally arrived. I shall be avoiding for now and hope I can return in the future. 3 stars because of past positive ✨️ experiences, otherwise it would have been a 1 star unfortunately. Customer service is...
Read moreWe’ve been to Piccolo a lot recently, and each and every time, food is consistently delicious, no skimping on quality ingredients and very well presented. Also generous portions.
Coffee is also brilliant - I love the crema that they achieve on an Americano - that takes some serious skill! Yesterday I had an Oreo Milkshake - oh my goodness, it was decadent… Very unique to have this level of artisan drinks list for a neighbourhood cafe - well done to the owner for her innovation.
Service always impeccable. We love Hassan!! He sets the standard for true hospitality. My only gripe is the table layout - there are one too many tables inside... Squeezing past trying not to bump into anyone sitting is uncomfortable. I’ve been knocked into a few times by people trying to sit next to me… And I have to tuck myself in … and try not to knock into anyone if it’s full. I hope management consider that a tiny bit more spacing would be more comfy if possible. However, it’s still the best of the best! Well done Piccolo...
Read moreYou know that one scene in ‘The Interview’ where James Franco walks into the North Korean grocery store and realises that all the colourful fruits and pretty display is all plastic and fake? .. Welcome to Piccolo where there’s more froth in any given hot drink and slices of cake are halved before being served.
In all seriousness, I’ve been here about 3 times to give it a fair chance and I will say that this Café has alright coffee and the cakes are fine-tasting but for what they charge on their minimal-effort “menu”, everyone’d be better-off making avo-on-toast at home for literally a fifth the price.
Furthermore, I’ve come to find that their “greek yoghurt” is not authentic greek, but rather greek style; and buttermilk pancakes not fresh.
Make of it what you will, for they have certainly put a lot of effort into the aesthetic, and is thus a great place for a drink and chat but if you’re expecting a lunch then go elsewhere. However I must give them credit for a decent soup so I suppose brunch is...
