So we have eaten here many times and also used the takeaway service. Arguably the best pizzas around and on Friday 3/11/21 myself, partner and 2 young children booked a table for 19.15pm for a nice treat. We were told that we had 1.5 hours to enjoy our evening. The table was ready on time and the restaurant was clearly busy and fully booked. After 10 minutes we ordered drinks and starters which were delivered promptly. The plates were cleared and our orders were taken for our main meals. This is where it went downhill. An hour later there was still no sign of our mains. Usually you would expect 15-20 minutes between courses. Whilst we were waiting there was a constant stream of pizzas leaving the restaurant to fulfil takeaway orders. It quickly became apparent that takeaways were the main priority and of course are the most lucrative. Our waitress was absolutely great. She engaged with the children and was apologetic about the wait. After the hour had passed we started to question the delay and again were met with apologies. Another round of drinks were ordered, unnecessarily which consisted of 2 small cokes and a glass of house red wine. At this point we politely requested that maybe we could request a compliment on the final bill. The mains eventually came and were great as always. Then the bill came and no discounts were given. When questioned our excellent waitress informed us that the manager/owner had basically said that he was not prepared to offer any discount as we could obviously see that they were busy. To the manager: Coming from a customer service background, quite frankly i find this very poor. You could have quite easily offered us the second round of drinks off of the bill at minimal cost to yourselves. If if wasn't for the wait we would not have even ordered them. Not even an offer for a free coffee or ice cream for the children? Blatant disregard for customer service. Food is wonderful, waitress was great but you as a manager need...
Read moreWe came here for dinner to try authentic Italian cuisine and were impressed by the food, service and atmosphere.
The food was served fairly speedily and was delicious. We tried the Melanzane Parmigiana for starters along with the Focaccia with Mozzarella and were completely blown away with the melt in the mouth experience and cheese pull of the Melanzane. It was simply delicious. The focaccia was also delicious, freshly made and had a nice aftertaste too. We also enjoyed the mushroom risotto and veg ravioli with burrata but the standout dish was the Melanzane. It’s a hidden gem, and in my opinion richer and more authentic than the equivalent dish at Pizza Express!
The service was friendly and welcoming. There were no hesitations in replacing the focaccia with the focaccia with mozzarella when they mistook the order and the ambience was also very intimate which made us feel welcome. We tried the pasta dishes only but were still satisfied and enjoyed the meal without trying the pizzas. The pistachio gelato Ice Cream was also delicious, and authentic Italian food. Ambience was very romantic, welcoming and busy at the time for a dinner date, and overall felt welcoming.
Overall, highly recommended for an authentic Italian dining experience that’s affordable and good...
Read moreNot child friendly my 3 year old ran inside and went to sit on seat and said hello to everyone as 3 year olds do. He shouted at him made him cry the place was empty then he told me I should know this is a restaurant. I don't recommend rude nasty man. In response to owner we came to your restaurant on Sunday 21/7/19 after coming from the opening of the childrens play area and lake in Beckenham place Park. You shouted at my child and told asked me if I had booked then shouted in front of every one I should know that this is a restaurant. Your restaurant was empty in comparison to the rest of the busy restaurants in Beckenham. After your customer repelling rudeness you went to find me a table and I then decide after comforting my child that my money was better spent elsewhere with a higher standard of customer service. We then went to Big Catch restaurant further down the high street that had a child friendly and family welcoming atmosphere. They were very busy in comparison to Sapore. Your attitude is shameful. I was quite upset by your behaviour but the only person you embarrassed was yourself that evening in your very...
