Edited my review from 5 stars to 2 stars due to new management.
Ever since Pita's new ownership, things have sadly gone downhill. For starters, the quality of the meat has worsened. The owner has clearly changed to a cheaper supplier. Recipes have also changed. The Shawarma only tastes of egg now. The chicken is dry and old.
Secondly, some of the people working there have absolutely no idea on how to make a 'Pita'. The amount of times I have seen them tear apart due to the fact that they are extremely soggy at the bottom as the salad was put at the bottom and not in between/the top, is really unacceptable.
Thirdly, the ordering system is undoubtedly one of the most confusing I have ever seen. Whenever I see people come in who are not regulars, you can tell from the look on their faces they have no idea what to do. Do you wait to be seated? Do you go to a vacant table? Do you go to the till first? This should be obvious as soon as you come in.
It really is a shame what has happened to this restaurant as it was easily my favourite in the local area. You are better off spending your money at somewhere like Hummus Bar because the quality of the meat is 10x better and FAR more care is taken when...
Read morePita in Golders Green is a fantastic spot for delicious, authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere, making you feel right at home. The restaurant has a casual yet vibrant setting, perfect for both quick bites and relaxed meals.
The food is outstanding, with fresh, high-quality ingredients that bring out the rich flavors of each dish. Their pita sandwiches are a must-try, packed with perfectly spiced meats, crisp vegetables, and flavorful sauces. The shawarma is tender and juicy, while the falafel is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The hummus is smooth and creamy, complementing every dish beautifully. They also offer a great selection of salads and sides, making it easy to customize your meal.
Portion sizes are generous, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality you receive. The service is quick and efficient, even during busy hours, with staff who are always friendly and accommodating.
Whether you're in the mood for a quick, tasty meal or a satisfying feast, Pita in Golders Green is an excellent choice. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic, flavorful Middle...
Read moreMy colleague and I often come to Pita to grab some lunch on our way through Golders Green with no issues. However, last night (evening of Thursday 27th June) we attended around midnight for a late night meal and were extremely unimpressed with the quality of the food. In fact, it was so vile it made me vomit later that night. The hummus was honestly really disgusting and tasted sour/soapy, possibly the worst I have ever tasted. The texture wasn't nice either. The pita was burnt, doughy and tasteless, and the falafels were just dry. When I mentioned this politely to the staff member, he gave me some more hummus (which still tasted horribly), he then tasted the hummus himself and laughably thought it tasted fine. A couple of guys came in to the restaurant after us, and ordered the lamb and falafel (which they couldn't eat) and left saying it was surprisingly awful. The girls we were with also really disliked their meal and wasted most of it. Overall, a real shame as its usually very tasty. Quite how you make simple food taste so bad I have no idea. On the plus side, I'm giving it a 2 star as the chips tasted fine. Hopefully this is viewed as constructive...
