PizzaExpress — Restaurant in London

Two months ago I booked my son's 8th birthday party at Pizza Express (363 Fulham Road) with 16 of his friends coming. Three days before the party I received an automated email saying "YOUR BOOKING HAS BEEN CANCELLED". I called the 'manager' who sounded very unqualified for the role -- in a deadpan manner he said he didn't have the staff. The restaurant will still be open though, so it sounds like he decided to prioritise other bookings. He didn't seem to care that a child's birthday party would need to be cancelled. Incredibly disappointing. I have since spoken with friends and they have said that it's a terribly run Pizza Express in other respects too. Avoid...

Personally went in to order 2 pizzas and wait. I specifically asked for the pizzas to be well done crispy on top of already ordering romanas. Also asked for a small tub of garlic oil. I was very clear with my instructions and the waitress heard me clearly. The food got done I paid took the pizzas and oil and went to my friends house a few doors down literally 2 min walk. When we opened the pizzas they were both ridiculously soggy except the crust and underneath was nowhere near golden brown it was not enjoyable. I ordered 2 pizzas online and went to collect them. First of all I went on time to collect but was asked to wait 10 more minutes, was okay for me though I had guests waiting in my flat. After waiting for 20 minutes I was told that the pizzas shape is not good and they came up with lame excuses such as the dough was cold and they have to many orders to deal with. I took the order because I didn't want to miss the football match on that day plus I had guests waiting for me but I was really disappointed and frustrated by this and couldn't understand how was it my fault and why they would do that to customers who love pizza express.
