Exciting tiramisu, bland otherwise. In my (not often) humble opinion; a "special" is something that is not on the standard menu. It's there for variety and to demonstrate (as the honorific implies) something special. Ossobucco was on offer the day I went. Was it appropriate for the region that Pulia is supposed to specialize in? I have no idea. I am merely an eater - I would expect that the restaurateur would offer items with which they were familiar and knew how to cook. While I awaited the veal, it was suggested I try the croquettes. Fresh from the bottom of a poorly maintained supermarket chest freezer (I am guessing) and shown the inside of a microwave that wasn't turned on - these limp, flaccid, breadcrumbed, powdered potato sausages (2) were served with a brown relish. I have no idea what the brown relish was supposed to be. Many years ago I did use a wood stain on some chipboard. Interesting what can prompt the regurgitation of an unpleasant smell. The ossobucco arrived. Mostly tough but, genuine meat, paddling in a gravy/sauce that looked like one chicken stock cube that had been soaked in 10 litres of water, had the salt removed and then slightly thickened with cornflour. A greenish pale yellow. Were this one of the regular menu items and if I cared and intended to return - I would have had a quiet conversation with the waiter. As it was a "special" - then I judge that it had been tasted and approved and thought worthy of it's price. But, the PULIA TIRAMISU....... Ahhhhhh! Very good indeed. Fresh coffee poured over at the last moment - tiny hints of crunchy, honeyed caramel throughout. Not too sweet. A proper "pick me up". With a house dessert wine that would shame a 2015 château d'yquem - very very good. Decor and layout bright - more for people with a business expense account (and no savoury taste buds) than an intimate romantic eatery. Polite staff, reasonably attentive but not very knowledgeable about their own menu or origins (possibly on holidays from the Antipodes?) If I was in the area (like I had just had some excellent oysters and a beer from the bar/pub about 100 metres away) - then I would come again for dessert. I gave 4 stars for the tiramisu and dessert wine - but, I had to add minus 1 for the savoury stuff.

I had the pleasure of dining at Pulia near Borough Market, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing meal. We started with the Acqua Panna and indulged in a variety of dishes, including the Margherita Pizza, Orata con Verdure, and the Torta al Limone. Each dish was a testament to the quality and simplicity that Pulia promises. The Orata con Verdure was perfectly cooked, with fresh vegetables that complemented the fish beautifully. The Margherita Pizza was a classic, with a perfect balance of flavors. The drinks were equally impressive. We enjoyed the Pulia Silene, a delightful choice that paired wonderfully with our meal. The espresso and cappuccino were the perfect end to our dining experience, rich and flavorful. Special mention to the server, Ciro O., who was attentive and provided excellent service throughout our visit. The chef deserves accolades for the meticulous preparation and presentation of each dish, truly showcasing the essence of Italian cuisine. Overall, Pulia provided an exceptional dining experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy authentic Italian food in London.

Very cute pseudo Italian restaurant in a nice part of south east London. Surrounded by gazillion other restaurants and right next to famouse Borough market. The restaurant has nice modern vibe and very good service, however that's where positives end. Every single item we ordered except for brocollini side was just plain, tasteless or missing flavor. Margarita pizza - plain cheese pizza from school cafeteria, octopus with chickpea puree 5/10 - badly done, plus note to the chef - chickpea doesn't work with octopus at all. The beef stew in white sauce (never seen that in Italy 😆) , basically boiled meat in thin gravy, void of any seasonings 1/10 The stewed calf liver, also very odd item for an Apulian menu, poorly executed pieces still had gristle in'em 2/10. The waitress probably noticed me telling my wife how bad the stew was, so she came over to ask if I want something different, ordered pasta with truffle. It was overcooked but the sauce was not bad 5/10. In summary, the chef or the owner should definitely travel to Apulia and see what's up. This food not only bad, but has no relation to the beautiful yet simple cuisine of that region

Edit: apparently I was avoiding paying my personal bill of £17.50…..again… better to avoid this restaurant at all cost. Also to whomever replied my review from the restaurant : I don’t want to hear from you in any email…. The email used to book is different from mine. Neither myself or my friends will ever use your services again. If at all any reader is unsure of my review, just check the numerous low reviews from other customers before me… for the readers, here are actual legal facts so you can make an informed decision…

the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982, states that any service provider in the country must supply services with "reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time and at a reasonable cost".

Firstly, our food came out really late. We all waited close to an hour. I didn’t feel there was reasonable care when i was told (with force) that I must pay for something I was unable to eat and wanted to take home.

The law stipulates that all restaurants must serve food that is of satisfactory quality. If food is served that doesn't meet these standards, the customer is entitled to request a replacement meal, or a full or part refund.

By the time the food finally came, I could only get through half of it as it didn’t come out hot enough. Rather than complain, my thought was I’d just take half home, warm it myself and enjoy the rest there. I didn’t expect all of this stress because this restaurant refuses to provide takeaway boxes.

Lastly: Customers are legally entitled to refuse to pay their bill if food/service was substandard. Customers should explain their reasoning for not paying to restaurant staff and leave contact details. If a customer feels as though they are bullied into paying by the restaurant's reaction, they should write on the back of their receipt that they are paying "under protest". It may be possible to claim these costs back by claiming through the small claims court.

The blonde lady tried to intimidate me into paying. I only asked that: i pay half as I am unable to take half my meal home with me. I never asked to pay nothing at all. That would not make sense.

Original review: I feel so bad i brought 13 people here. Bill came to over £300. Please be aware you can legally require a takeaway box otherwise you can insist to pay half, quarter (basically equivalent of whatever food is left that you would have otherwise had at home)

One of the staff (small blonde lady) tried HARD to intimidate me into paying the full thing. I felt so upset she was pressurising me and making me feel like I didn’t know my rights.

I told her she should call the police. Eventually she got me a takeaway box from franco manca next door.

I cannot stand when people insult my intelligence.

Food i thought was ok but from the numerous bad reviews about the food, seems I could be wrong.

I wouldn’t be going here again. Sad… i really sang...

I am writing to share my disappointment following a visit to your restaurant today with two friends and a baby.

We chose your place because it seemed quiet and suitable for us, especially as we had a baby who was about to nap. Around 1:00 PM, we entered and noticed only four other customers — the restaurant was nearly empty, unlike others in Borough Market at that time. After we arrived the other 4 customers finished their meal in left the restaurant. At the whole time in the restaurant was only us 3 there to served.

Upon entering, we were greeted by a woman in a black suit who appeared to be the manager. I was holding the baby in my arms, waiting for him to fall asleep so I could lay him in the buggy. However, she insisted I move the buggy away from the table, claiming it would block the passage for other guests. I politely explained that the restaurant was nearly empty and that I would not be able to eat while holding a sleeping baby. Her response was not only unhelpful, but she rolled her eyes at a colleague behind the bar, which I found very unprofessional and disrespectful.

Another staff member took our order afterward. I ordered the cod fish, while my friends chose the beef stew and the pasta. When the dishes arrived, we noticed there were no sides accompanying the cod or beef. We enquired about this and were told by the same manager that “this is how we eat in Pulia.” We acknowledged that perhaps we should have noticed this when ordering, but I’ve dined in many Italian restaurants and have not encountered this before.

I asked politely if she could provide a side dish. She offered either bread or broccoli. I chose the bread, but what was served looked dry, as if it had been left out overnight and then toasted to disguise its staleness.

To make matters worse, when the bill arrived, we were charged for the bread — something I had only requested because the main dish had no sides. My colleague questioned this, but the manager’s response was again rude and dismissive. Her attitude throughout our visit lacked basic courtesy and professionalism.

We left the restaurant very dissatisfied, especially with the way we were treated. We had chosen your restaurant in good faith, hoping for a pleasant lunch, and instead felt unwelcome and uncomfortable. And I regret that I’ve paid the service charge.

I hope you will take this feedback seriously and consider reviewing how customers are treated in your...

I am originally from Apulia and I had great expectations about this restaurant that unfortunately turned out to be really deludent. At first, it gave me the impression of being a high profile place, due to the good taste in the interior design choices and the cheerfulness of the front desk staff. We had nice drinks befor dinner, as we were waiting for more friends to join us. Unfortunately, the quality of the starters and the main courses was very low if compared to the prices. We ordered burrata di Andria but the cheese we received was nothing like it. Nor it looked like a burrata as it was flat, loose and already cut in the middle and it tasted quite sour. The focaccia looked like a flat bread with a couple of tomatoes and olives on top. Nothing whatsoever to do with the original focaccia from Apulia. Things did not improve with the main courses: the plate of cavatelli with truffle had no truffle in it but probably only a splash of truffle flavored oil, which is very dishonest considering its price. Some people ordered troccoli with clams and instead they received a plate of overcooked, tasteless wrong pasta shape. When we asked the staff if that was really troccoli, they hesitated but answered yes. Seeing our disappointment, they eventually checked with the kitchen staff that explained they had run out of troccoli and had to make a substitution, of which we were not made aware while ordering. Desserts unfortunately were equally unsatisfactory. We ordered pasticciotto with vanilla ice cream and received pistachio ice cream instead. Again, we were not informed of the ice cream substitution, which was a real issue as one of the guests was allergic to pistachio. Luckily no one was harmed, as we noticed the ice cream colour was different than what expected and returned it to the kitchen. Moreover, the pasticciotto was extremely cold on the inside, which is a real shame as the taste and the consistency of the outer pastry was really good. The treatment we received was unprofessional and unjustified. This restaurant and its food is honestly of average quality and it does not offer an authentic apulian culinary experience. I would not recommend it. It’s a real shame because the look and the location are good and the brand has a lot...
