How did The Old Thameside Inn pub, which I took my family, had treated us badly?

After visiting Borough Market on a nice day, we went to The Old Thameside Inn. My mom and my boyfriend went to the bar to order. While a staff member was preparing the order -soon we learned his name was Tony-, another staff member asked if we wanted to have anything else. At that time, we wanted to add another drink to our order. A moment later, as soon as we informed him, not to forget to add this additional drink; without a reason he got mad and said, “you can't ask from anyone but me, if you don't like it, go away”. We were stunned of how he treated us.

After that, It gets even worse! 2 minutes later we went to the outdoor area of the bar with a huge shock, we asked to talk with the manager, and we specifically asked if Tony was the manager. We got the answer, that he is not, and venue manager is named “Olympia”. Then, they asked us to come to the bar to talk to the manager. At that time, we were reconfirmed that we weren’t going to speak with Tony if he is the manager.

As soon as we went to the bar, you may not believe what had happened! We found the same person in front of us saying that “If you have a problem with me, you should speak to me, I am the manager” We learned from the other staff members that, even though they called Olympia, he blocked the way and came to talk to us.

After being hit once again, we left the venue directly. Although the place is well located, we will not come here again because of this rude treatment by the staff members, and the refusal to accommodate any requests such as speaking to the manager or asking for a drink.

We believe this situation could have been delt with very maturely and respectfully, if ‘Tony’ did not want us to ask another staff member for help, he could have asked us nicely and informed us about their procedures. We cannot know automatically, besides everywhere else this is not the case, if you need assistance whilst your server is busy you can request another staff members help. The confusing part was that we were approached by another staff member, who asked us if we needed anything else, and we did, so we asked. We had a very bad first impression of this pub and our day out was ruined; we left the area very disappointed in the hospitality...

Nice place to have drinks, they have a lovely alcohol and non-alcoholic range. The elderflower soda was very nice. Food was incredibly disappointing. They'd run out of roast dinner, which is something to bear in mind on a Sunday - our table was booked for 5pm so if wanting dinner, go earlier. The pie and its accompaniments were lovely but nothing special, but I really would not recommend the beef brisket "croquette" starter: I've had bigger falafel and stuffing balls, there's only three of them served on a plate that even the rocket looked embarrassed to be on, and as for the "brisket", well - I don't think a cow had even breathed near them, it could have been any generic filling, we literally thought it was falafel or some budget deep fried stuffing ball. We asked if we had the wrong dish, but were reassured that it wasn't. Whilst the atmosphere was nice, the staff (two different members of) started clearing our plates before all of our party had finished eating, which is incredibly rude. The women's toilets also had bits of toilet roll all over the floor and empty glasses in them, with two out of three stalls lacking toilet paper. Discovered two spare rolls on top of the radiator, but as it's situated underneath the dryers, they were a bit wet, which is off putting, and also nowhere to put them in the cubicle except on top of sanitary bins or the floor, which isn't...

I went to The Old Thameside Inn a week before Christmas with a bunch of girls and we pre-ordered the Festive Set Menu. I would give 1-2 stars for the food as it sadly was tastless (the seabass was not good - no spices and dry, same the prawn cocktail - tasted like the one I buy at tesco and the christmas pudding was tiny and dry). The girls did not enjoy their food either-similar feedback (the turkey was ok-ish). But.. I was really happy that we got a corner table in a quiet area (like I requested in my booking!), the table was very beautifully decorated and our waiter (Patryk) was very friendly, attentive and quick (and a bonus - very handsome :D). We had a lovely and fun evening. The place does not have a good food (or maybe it was just the festive menu as other reviews on here are good..) but definitely it is a very nice place to meet with friends. Normally I avoid British pubs as they smell strongly of beer, are dirty/messy with glass on the floor and are full of drunken and loud people. So it was a very nice surprise and we...

I think the food is ok! It just the manager or the owner is just a bit rude. Sorry I brought a drink from borough markt and he shout out me and told me to get out! I explained to him and said im so sorry I am pregnant and I just brought a healthy fresh juice. And he just said ok but you can’t come in with that drink. Out! (With a bit loud voice!) I felt so embarrassed because there’s another customer there. I think first my mistake to brought a juice but he can tell me with politeness. “Ma’am I’m sorry as per policy of our restaurant you are not allowed to bring a drinks here.” We are foreigner of His country. And maybe we don’t understand some policy. So please treat your customer with some respect.

Argyle on tour....a match against Wimbledon and a weekend in London! And this was our first stop of many....and a perfect choice too. The sun was out, the Thames was looking majestic ( if a little muddy ) and we were sat in pole position for beer, food and good people watching!! Nice pub, lovely decor inside and attentive staff milling around. Gradually got busier and busier making a great atmosphere. The 2 snack bites we had were average and expensive, as most pubs food in London tends to be. Really good location and a quite magnificent building. Ps....where have all the Financial district "Suits" gone on a Friday afternoon.....all working from home I suppose....bet they miss their "POETs" time !!!
