A group of us decided on eating here after work on Friday. I tried to book a table over the phone a few days prior, but would get through only have the phone put down on me! I should not have bothered as the restaurant was very quiet, especially during peak hours on a Friday evening.
We all felt that the service before and during the meal was un-welcoming, non-attentive and unfriendly. The food taste and presentation was very basic and average. Therefore at the end of the meal, we decided that we did not want to pay the (optional) service charge.
When this was mentioned to the waiter, she promptly took the bill to the manager. The manager then came storming to our table and asked us to explain why we had decided on not paying a service charge! We were shocked to see that the manager was making us feel guilty on not paying a service charge and telling us that the cooks, servers etc all would benefit from a service charge. This was despite a tip of £10!
From this point we were made to feel uncomfortable by both the manager and waiting staff, which included: Barging us while cleaning the table, giving us evil looks and talking about us behind our backs!
It did not end here! While leaving the restaurant outside we were being what seemed verbally abused by the restaurant staff! Therefore I decided on confronting the worker/manager on why the need for such behaviour. I was told that I should go across the road to a famous fast food sub joint, where I would be welcomed more. I was told never ever to step foot in the restaurant again!
One of the members in the group had their food packed, it was only when they got home it was discovered that the “prawn” pad Thai was missing all the prawns originally in the dish. I dread to think now that they reuse leftover food.
I have eaten in many restaurants both locally and international of different styles and ranks. I have never experienced this type of treatment and service. It left us all shocked, which is why I am spending the time to write a review for the first time.
I will for sure never be returning to a Rosa Thai Cafe anytime in the...
Read moreAs someone who holds an unapologetic affection for Thai cuisine — the kind you find sizzling at a Bangkok street stall at 2 a.m. — I approach Westernized Thai restaurants with cautious optimism. Rosa’s Thai in Chelsea, however, is one of those rare establishments that, while not strictly traditional, knows how to deliver a comforting, thoughtfully prepared meal with heart.
On this visit, we ordered a familiar trio: drunken noodles, pad Thai, and tom yum soup. The flavors were dialed back compared to their Thai counterparts — the heat especially, which I suspect is moderated for the British palate. Still, what it lacked in fire, it made up for in balance. The drunken noodles were satisfyingly chewy with a sweet-savory glaze that clung to the wok-charred edges. The pad Thai was competent — a little too polished, perhaps, but generous with tamarind and not cloyingly sweet. The tom yum was the standout: bright, aromatic, and refreshingly bold, even if I did miss that sinus-clearing chili hit.
What Rosa’s may not offer in full-throttle authenticity, it compensates with solid execution and exceptional service. Celyn, our waitress, deserves special mention. Warm, knowledgeable, and quietly attentive, she offered thoughtful suggestions without overstepping. Her recommendation of the tom yum was spot-on.
Value-wise, every pound felt well spent. In a city like London, where you can pay far more for far less flavor, Rosa’s Thai holds its own. It’s not a temple of haute cuisine, but for a casual night out with reliably good food and even better hospitality — it’s a place I’m always happy...
Read moreThis is detailed review: The service are top notch they’re, nice, adorable and funny. While I had chat with them I had a good experience. The place is clean and doesn’t even smell like food “ maybe when you’re eating you will smell it” the temperature is good. When I had my food at the hospital the broth was delicious with the noodles and sprouts where crunchy and tasty, the mushroom and tomato were so good the chicken was tender and delicious it had good spicy “ I have good tolerance with spicy so for me it was ok” my nephew said the broth was spicy but to me it was ok over all the chefs needed to pet there sides as they did good job.
The only problem I had was the portion of the noodles” I ate more sprouts then noodles” usually I have left overs but this time I took there bites and swear it was gone “I looked my nephew like where did the noodles go?” 😅. So is £13 pounds worth overall it?? ‘Maybe’ no. But the broth made forget the disappointment so I’ll say good experience also this Tom Yum noodles chicken but I’ll call it TOM YUM MASH-ROOM/chicken. There was more mash-room than everything. Every time I think I’ve finished it they coming up 😭.
But I compered it to when I was in back home had more portions overly cheaper too also my mom food. So it was lacking. But if it was my first time eating I’ll probably say 10/10.
For the price and noodles. “ reminder the Tum Yum and the Thai tea all together was £18” so you can take it and experience it or order something else. But I’ll say give it a chance and I’m sure you will like...
