I rarely leave reviews but the experience at this Rosa's Thai this week has made me realise how much I take good service for granted. It's prompted me to review all the great places I've eaten at recently.
With the exception of the general manager, who has been consistently professional and polite, the service here is the worst I've experienced anywhere in the world. The other staff have zero empathy and act like they're doing you a favour by giving you what you've paid for. Maybe this is because they're not allowed to charge service for a takeaway so they don't care at all.
I've repeatedly had the same issues despite telling the staff about it: takeaway boxes not being closed properly and leaking and ripping the bag. The last time it caused the chilli sauce to spill on the tube floor. They'd not even given me tissues so I could clean it up. prawns and chicken taste boiled with no flavour at all. The chicken has tasted off the two times I've got it. Even then I didn't call to complain. I'm not surprised another review said they got food poisoning from it. I've asked to them pre-fry prawns to at least give it some flavour. This isn't a big deal - literally takes 1 minute with pre-cooked prawns. But it's not usually done properly or the last two times they've just drenched them in soy sauce instead, making them inedible. one particular manager working on the eve of the 14th Jan has always been rude and dismissive even after I told her the issues I've had. This time when the bag ripped, she told me to go all the way back to the restaurant! She then must have blocked my number as I called for a refund after I saw the inedible prawns and it kept going to a busy tone but rang from another number! Completely unprofessional and irresponsible given the issue was their fault.
Staff really need training on how to treat their customers, unconcious bias, and how to make and pack food.
It is extremely unusual to repeatedly and unapologetically have the same issues at a restaurant. I've visited Honest Burgers, a few doors down, for takeaway on about 30 different occasions and never had any of issues with food...
Read moreRosa’s Thai Finsbury Park didn’t quite hit the mark. While some dishes were decent, the overall value left us wanting more from this place. If you’re looking for an affordable and memorable Thai meal, you might want to explore other options.
Please note that this review reflects my personal experience, and others may have different opinions. 🍽️🌶️
My overall impression was a bit of a rollercoaster. Let’s break it down:
Food Quality: The Pad Thai was disappointingly plain and lacked flavour. It left my mum craving more excitement on her taste buds. She said it tasted like the none flavour she makes at home and wanted to taste the authenticity. She was dissatisfied
Pricing: Brace yourself—our bill came close to £200 for five people, excluding dessert. The £45 price tag for 2 classic platter felt steep after looking at the bill.
Mother’s Day Special: We visited on Mother’s Day, hoping for a memorable experience. My mum received only a single glass of prosecco.
Service: With just one person handling orders and serving, the service was slow. We expected more efficiency, especially given the occasion.
Cleanliness: The table wasn’t clean when we sat down, and it remained that way throughout our meal. It's not the best first impression. We had to clean it ourselves.
Value for Money: Ultimately, the experience didn’t justify the hefty price tag. For the amount spent, we expected more from this place.
We will not be returning. I'm afraid it just didn't meet our...
Read moreCame on a Friday around 9 PM and was honestly shocked by how poor the service was. We weren’t greeted upon arrival, and once seated, it took an unreasonably long time for anyone to even acknowledge us—no water, no menus, nothing.
What really soured the experience was the bartender’s attitude. After waiting 20 minutes with no sign of service, we tried to flag her down. She waved us off, walked away, and didn’t attempt to help us or alert any other staff. The audacity to dismiss us while she acted busy casually drying the same glass over and over was beyond frustrating.
As for the food—it was mid at best. The only standout was the lamb larb. The tom yum was watery and oily, lacking the signature depth of flavor. The pad thai was passable but nothing to write home about. We also tried to order Thai iced tea and were told there was no milk. At a Thai restaurant.
It says a lot when the food comes out in five minutes, but you’ve waited 20 just to place your order.
On top of all that, the waiter seemed undertrained and overwhelmed—she discouraged us from ordering a dish we wanted, which was a first for me. She also struggled with basic things like splitting the check.
Overall, Rosa’s really disappointed. Really not sure why the rating is a 4.8. Between the dismissive bartender, the slow and confused service, and the lackluster food, I wouldn’t come back. Better staff training and a serious review of front-of-house service are...
