Usually when food looks this beautiful, the taste doesn’t match up. In this case, the food tastes even BETTER than it looks. I volunteer on the farm and there is nothing better than having lunch here - getting warm-from-the-oven freshly baked bread, with zingy fresh salads or hearty farm-fresh vegetable soup in the winter, going to sit among the flowers to eat, being watched by cats and squirrels and hearing the buzz of farm life all around you - this cafe is pure heaven! The woman running it always has good ideas for new stuff - like she makes her own cordials and ice lollies, lots of sugar free options as well. I’m writing this during lockdown when I’m dreaming almost daily of the cakes from the Tea Hut - the brownies are those perfect fudgey but still solid, intensely chocolate brownies that I always try and fail to make at home, along with an oat milk flat white. I can’t wait for it to open up again, the food and drink combined with the setting make it the best cafe in the whole area! It’s only a couple minutes walk from Brick Lane, but offers a much better experience than any of the...
Read moreI have just had a horrendous experience at this place with my autistic child. My child ordered a sausage roll and a cookie. The price was £9- completely overpriced!
As far as I know, the dish was advertised as pork sausage roll (no mention of salad). The sausage roll was served in a pot with a salad covered in salad cream. My child has sensory needs and would never eat anything covered in sauce (the sauce had gone on the sausage roll).
I had to queue up to ask to swap the sausage roll (waiting is very difficult for my child).
When we finally go to speak to the member of staff, she refused to swap it, saying all she could do was cut it up. I find this terrible. We never asked for salad in the first place! I don't have another £7-£8 to spend on a sausage roll. We purposefully chose the farm as a low-cost day trip.
This has spoilt a day out for two SEND children and a child has gone without his food. This cafe is not inclusive. I won't be coming again and will certainly share my experience with other parents of...
Read moreThis is such a special little eaterie! I love visiting the farm and dropping by the Tea Hut - Simone uses organic and fresh ingredients and makes everything from scratch. Wherever possible she uses produce grown on the farm. The quality and value of the food is excellent! I have a few food intolerances so Simone is happy to list all ingredients for me and customises my salad order. There are options for vegetarians and vegans and an extensive offering of hot and cold drinks. I...
