We dined in for lunch and began with the devilled prawns to share. They were enjoyable and well-prepared, but unfortunately everything that followed was a disappointment.
The biriyani we ordered as our main was extremely underwhelming. It was oily yet bland, lacking any real depth of masala or flavour.
The rice was dry, almost as if it had been sitting out for too long. The raita was pleasant, but not enough to make up for the poor quality of the dish.
Honestly, a simple homemade biriyani would taste far more authentic and satisfying than what was served.
Dessert was no better. We ordered the tender coconut mousse and gulab jamun, and after a long wait had to ask about the delay.
When the mousse finally arrived, it was completely frozen solid, impossible to even put a spoon through.
That explained the wait, as it had clearly been taken straight out of the freezer to thaw.
When I raised this with the manager, he claimed that the chef insisted this was the intended consistency. If so, then it shouldn’t be called a mousse at all. The gulab jamun, meanwhile, tasted stale and past its prime.
The ambience and decor of the restaurant are undoubtedly appealing, but sadly the food doesn’t match up. For the prices being charged, diners deserve much better.
Instead, it feels like shortcuts are being taken and substandard dishes are being served under the guise of fine presentation. A very disappointing...
Read moreThali Restaurant in Barkingside is one of the best local spots for authentic Indian food. They offer a great variety of dishes, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, so there’s something for everyone. The food is always fresh, flavourful, and well presented — you can really taste the quality ingredients and the care that goes into each dish.
The restaurant itself has a clean, welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff who are attentive without being pushy. Service is usually quick, though it can get quite busy at times, especially on weekends — which just shows how popular it is!
There’s on-street parking available, which makes it convenient, though spaces can fill up quickly during peak dining hours.
Overall, a lovely local restaurant offering delicious Indian cuisine, great service, and good value for money. Perfect for family meals, casual dinners, or even takeaway nights. Highly...
Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If happiness had a flavor, it would probably taste like butter paneer here — sweet, creamy, and capable of fixing all of life’s minor inconveniences. The naans were fluffy little clouds, except these clouds came with chilli and garlic and could legally be classified as addictive substances. Even the baby portion of masala dosa came packed with more flavor than some entire restaurants manage on a full menu — authentic, comforting, and slightly life-changing.
The space itself is bright, clean, and airy — basically the yoga studio of restaurants, but instead of downward dog you get carbs (thank goodness). The staff? Kind, pleasant, and so accommodating that I half expected them to offer me an extra naan for emotional support. The kitchen absolutely delivered — everything was spot-on.
Already plotting my return for Round 2. (Round 3 will probably just be...
