I haven't dined at this restaurant but I had the opportunity to experience its staff hostile attitude and bad manners today afternoon when it was raining and pouring down quite suddenly while I was working on my bicycle as delivery courier. I have been working all day since early morning for food delivery and I had to stop and take a break because of the strong rain so I ve seen the Salotto 31 canopy as a temporary shelter from the rain and decided to stop for a little while sitting at one ot this restaurants outdoor tables which was protected from the rain, the restaurant was very quite and there were no customers sitting outside or even waiting to be seated or also sheltering from the rain ...matter of facts there was NOBODY IN THE WHOLE STREET also because it was that time in the afternoon after lunch and before tea time when there arent usually many customers in the restaurants. I was on a phone call because i had to get in touch with the client who was expecting me for delivery and let them know I had to stop because of the rain when at a point, very abruptly, a Salotto staff member came outside shouting at me that i had to stand from the chair immediately and leave the front of the restaurant beause I wasn't a customer (who said I wasnt gonna have a drink or something anyway? ...he didnt even ask me!), he also started to push the tables against me like an agressive 1diot for no reason what so ever, I haven't done anything bad to him, I wasnt causing any harm to the business at all and I could have been a potential customer cause I live in the area (...and also cause I m Italian often trying new italian restaurants). That person is horrible to the people in general and I cant imagine him serving anyone with polite and kind manners. I didnt have the chance to ask his name but I can describe him as a short, quite skinny man in his 40s ..going maybe to his 50s, with short grey hair and facial hair, from his bossy attitude I would guess he's maybe the manager or the owner of the business and that is the worst part: imagine the way he treats his employees and coworkers!! I believe whoever has these bad manners ald lack of empathy to the public so much so that he can't offer a shelter for 15 mins, shouldnt work in hospitality AT ALL! ...From my Italian point of view I feel also embarassed that a restaurant that treats people like that brags about being original, genuine italian experience ...NO! it's not!! we are not that nasty in Italy, sorry. I wouldn't recommend this place at all and, if you decide to try it, just come prepared to have an argument with the "little man"

I must say I enjoyed a lovely evening last sunday at this lovely Venetian/ Italian restaurant. Alberto was a very charming host to my evening alone and when I asked for the signature dish, he suggested the sole and I ordered it with the white wine suggestion. I was very happy with the food and wine suggestion delivered. For afters I enjoyed the cheese with a delicious red wine. I will certainly suggest this restaurant to all who want to enjoy a lovely Italian dinner in London and will go again if the opportunity arrives! Mille grazie to Alviso, Alberto 🥳, the chef and his kitchen brigade. Hope to come again soon!

Date: 12 Sept 2024 Time: 14.12 The heavens opened for a short period whilst a colleague and I were walking back to our office. We stood underneath the canopy at the entrance of this restaurant. A male individual who works at the restaurant demanded we vacate from the front of the restaurant and we were refused shelter from the heavy rain. He was incredibly rude and waved us goodbye in his sarcastic tone. We work for a large investment firm and we will make sure that no one goes this Salotto 13.

I have never had such a bad service from a director of a restaurant as I had recently at Salotto 31.

I was by the door checking the menu when the director called Alvise came to say hello. I knew they accepted tastecard so I asked if it was ok to use it. He said that I should have called beforehand to make a reservation but he would make an exception and let us use it.

We entered the restaurant and there were only the 3 us in there.

Before we had even sat down he asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. I replied saying let me have a think and he promptly replied that there were not much to think about "still no bubbles and sparkling with bubbles". Very patronising.

We ordered the food and again he was quite arrogant with his comments while taking the order. I asked if they had beer as there were no information on the menu and he replied saying that they had only draft Peroni.

After ordering dessert I asked for the bill and he requested my tastecard. I showed the app on my mobile with all of my membership details. I have never had any problem showing the mobile as it provides all of the information which the restaurant needs including a bar code which many restaurants even scan. He said that he needed the actual card or I would not have the discount and he proceeded to walk away.

I left my dessert on the table and followed him trying to explain that there were no need of the actual card because the app offers all of the information necessary to prove that I own a tastecard and it is valid. I have never had a problem with this elsewhere.

He replied saying that it wasn't his restaurant and nor mine so he needed the card because the owner needs to see it. I asked to see the owner and he said he wasn't there at the moment.

To avoid more discussion I asked him to give me the full bill but warned him that I would make a complaint. He ordered me to put my mobile on the table and he took a photo of the details.

He gave us the discount on the food but charged a staggering £7.95 per pint of Peroni. Subsequently checking the menu online the price is advertised as £6.

Needless to say dealing with the patronising and snide restauranteur and being overcharged for the privilege spoiled my meal and spoiled my day. I suggest you find somewhere...

Went here for Christmas Meal with colleagues in 2016.

Food was ok - nothing special - but the sting came at the end when the bill came in and the charge was £94 for the water we had all been drinking. !

Ok - we all know the idea of having to say "tap water" in order to not be charged in pubs, but come on - they came around pouring this as if it was free.

We do not expect this in a classy restaurant!

If a charge of nearly £100 is going to be levied - they should be made to stop and make this clear to customers. Just because this was a company Xmas meal does not mean I like to feel ripped off. Doesn't matter if i am not paying. It is the principle.

Ok - they are there to make money - so they are just doing that - I hear you say by being like that with the water instead of making it clear or being ethical and asking/checking if we want water at £4.99 a small bottle or tap water for £0.00

Never have I seen a bill with £94 for water charges!

My Thames water quarterly bill is cheaper and that gives me showers, drinking water and toilet flushes!

Ok - so they gain £94 today. But they loose our business in 2017 and beyond. A better experience last year would have meant a return this year. But not now.

Customers have long memories. Thus business should respect that.

We will never return for our Xmas meals. We are not risking a sour taste at the end, ruining our experience.

But you can decide for yourself.

Thank you for reading my review. Hopefully it will...
