Sam’s kitchen is our local and the food and service is always amazing. However being a vegetarian there is no veggie full English option which is disappointing. This time I asked to substitute the meat elements of the fry up for a tiny portion of salmon and an additional mushroom. I was with my partner and he waited an additional 30 minutes for his breakfast as it was forgotten. I was very shocked to see that we had been charged full price for the missing meal, and had been charged an additional £8 on top of the normal £16 full English price for the substitution. I don’t mind paying because the food is so good, but this felt a little ridiculous.
Hi Sam thanks for your response, it's appreciated. As I said, I don't mind paying because the food is so good, but we were shocked to see the full english on there that had been 30 mins delayed. I wasn't able to say anything at the time as my sister had gone in and paid the bill. Anyway, I appreciate your response and recognise there was a mistake. Sam's Kitchen is our local so we'll be back! I love all the pescatarian/vegetarian options, they are all absolutely delicious, but it would be nice to have a veggie full english as the elements of the full english are just...
Read moreBest burgers in london is quite a claim. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. I ordered a double beyond meat burger and fries. The burger just comes with a bun, cheese (vegan) and an almost undetectable amount of pickles. The burgers were good and well cooked. The bun was dry and bland. The cheese was good and well melted. The fries were crispy although over salted. My big issue was the fact the burger had no lettuce tomato and onion (this appears to be their USP, I'm not wearing that) to cut through what turned out to be a one dimensional stog. I have cooked beyond meat burgers at home and dine a much better job than Sam. I have also eaten far better burgers at places that don’t claim to be the best in London. There’s a vegan restaurant around the corner called The Gate, their vegan burger is in a different league to Sam’s.Needless to say I won’t be frequenting Sam’s anytime soon which is a shame because he promised so much. More attention to detail and variety is needed to make it worthy of the...
Read moreI live in the building in front of this place and was sad to see Cafe Plum go. I frequently visit Sam’s larder so I was excited to try this new restaurant. However, it turned out to be disappointing. I was meeting with friends and our table was next to the coffee machine/counter and we had to stop the conversation every time a coffee was ordered. The machine is incredibly loud and there shouldn’t be a table there. We waited for a table to be empty so we could move. The most disappointing thing is that smoothies/juices are from a bottle, unlike freshly made as with Cafe Plum. The smoothies are from Koox which I occasionally order but they are a bit more expensive and half the content. I ordered the avocado toast and it was so small that perhaps it was the smallest avocado toast I’ve had in London for brunch. My friends ordered the eggs with salmon and green shakshouka eggs, and they were not impressed but still hungry. The place is aesthetically nice but the food is overpriced for the area while there are better...
