Sami's Edgware — Restaurant in London

I am a regular customer at the Edgware, Hendon and Golders Green branches but think that is going to change as tonight we have had the worst experience. We called for a delivery at 7.25 and was told it was going to be 25-30 min, we paid by card over the phone (something I am now regretting). At 8.10 I called again the guy who took the order was sorry and said it would be here in 10min....15min later still no food. I called again and found out that they had got their orders mixed up and sent our food to someone else and they were sorry but wasn't much else they could do!!! I said I didn't think that was true and some refund was in order. I was told the best they could offer was some free drinks and 20% off our next order, which I didn't think was good enough. I was told the manager could call me to resolve this but not until after 10.30 maybe 11!!!! To top it off when the food did finally arrive at 9.10 my wives (who is 7 months pregnant and by this point pretty damn hungry) food was cold and there was a salad missing from my order!!! I have been to Sami's many times, but not for a while and have to say that it feels like the standards have slipped. Firstly, I noticed that the grill area had been taken away and now seems to be in the kitchen rather than out front.

We ordered to take away - 2 x schwarma - pita and lafa, falafel and a portion of chips.

As always, they ask which salads you want in your order and as always they did not put them all in despite the ticket saying exactly what we had ordered.

Also, the schwarma - they now only do chicken rather than lamb - was ok but a bit insipid looking and didn't really have much taste.

The falafel on the other hand, did have taste, but not of falafel. They tasted like they had curry in them or had been cooked in oil which had had something stronly flavoured in them. Disappointing.

Absolutely appalling service. Walked in around 7pm and placed an order for 1 shawarma and latke. Took my money quickly enough and said to wait and they’d call me when ready. After 15 minutes I asked how much longer food would be and they looked and said at least 10 minutes more as they were busy. Out of courtesy it would have been nice to tell me there was a delay and give me the option of deciding to stay or not. Then when they agreed to give me a refund after I said I couldn’t wait any longer it was as if they were doing me a favour. Out of courtesy and basic customer service, it might have been nice to offer maybe some hummus while waiting or as compensation.
