best bottomless brunch at Serata Hall 🥂 #brunch
East London GirlEast London Girl
Serata Hall is a bustling but relaxed bar in Old Street serving food and drinks all day. It hails from the same people behind Martello Hall in Hackney and Cattivo in Brixton. Expect stripped back exposed walls, high ceilings, plants and neon signs. It certainly as an element of ‘coolness’. The bar has its own gin still called Agnes which makes the Serata Hall gin. You can find her underneath the DJ booth! Serata Hall also offers other homemade gins from its other venues. We sampled a Cattivo with Small Batch Cattivo Gin, Kirsch, Chambord, Maraschino Syrup, rose petals and elderflower tonic (£11). We also had a mocktail (£5) which they make according to your preference. Ours consisted of raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, sugar syrup, lemon and elderflower. They also apparently have the biggest selection of tap wine outside the US with over 12 wines on tap! The menu is centered around Italian dishes. Everything on the menu is made on site, from the pizza dough that takes a full two days to prove to the homemade pasta made every day. We tucked into the following from the small plates menu: Padron peppers and sea salt / £5 Burrata, heritage tomatoes, rocket, pangrattato, rocket pesto and gnocco fritto / £12 Zucchini fries with aioli / £6 Cauliflower cheese arancini (Vegan) with pistachio pesto / £6 ‘Nduja & taleggio arancini with hot red pesto / £6 We loved the padron peppers which were so salty and moreish and the zucchini fries were perfectly crispy. The burrata itself was tasty and we loved all the ingredients but would have preferred smaller versions – the gnocco fritto was huge! The red pesto with nduja arancini was delicious too. We would absolutely recommend having a few drinks with a selection of small plates! The main meals were good but not as great as the small plates. We had the Beetroot Gnocci (vegan) with Pistachio pesto, walnuts, rocket and sage / £12. The pistachio pesto was delicious but the gnocchi was a little mushy – it would be nicer al dente. The Chef’s Meatballs with ‘Nduja tomato sauce, spaghetti, parmesan, gremolata and oregano / £13 was such a decent portion. We expected the tomato sauce to be spicier with the nduja and would love them to alter the sauce a little. Serata Hall is a great bar in Old Street to visit with friends, work colleagues or on a date night. Go for the gins and wine and get a few small plates to share. They also have a have fun quiz night on Wednesdays in the upstairs area where bottles of prosecco are only £15! Serata Hall also runs gin blending and cocktail masterclasses so keep an eye out for dates.

Last month the girls and I decided it was time for another bottomless brunch. So we exchanged dates and figured out it would be a month from then until we were all free to meet up! We had to find somewhere that was big enough to suit a large group as well as having a bottomless brunch that could start at 4 pm not an easy task I assure you. I’d had Serata Hall on my list for the past year and I knew it was time had a great booking process after changing the number multiple times due to dropouts. No deposit was required either which made for stress free booking. when we arrived we were advised to order ASAP as the 4 to 6 pm sitting was due to be very busy and if we didn’t order quickly would be sure to be waiting awhile for food. As instructed we did and we ordered the following : slow beef rigatoni, truffle tagliatelle , truffle mushroom toast , rockstar margarita and a normal margarita. The rigatoni was beautifully cooked and tasted lovely , likewise the truffle pasta. The rockstar margarita made me jealous I had only got a normal normal one despite not liking rocket or tomato’s ! This says a lot about how good it tasted. The truffle toast was nice but quite meh , not seasoned the best tasted more creamy than truffle. Onto the drinks , key for bottomless is the ability to be timely with the drinks and here they did not fault. Upon arrival our table was given 2 bottles of bubbles and little sets to create our own cocktail as well as a bowl of rum punch , whenever the staff saw us running dry they came and brought fresh ones straight away. Think the idea of making the Prosecco cocktails is great but in the end you don’t really get round to it because it’s a bit of an effort so stick with the bubbles on their own which is still lovely , but the rum punch was great and a personal fave ! Price : Overall considering the service I understand the £30 per head for bottomless drinks element as they give you your moneys worth, and the food is nice and decently priced so I feel it’s very fair. Lovely aesthetically pleasing place too and great atmosphere. Slap bang next to old street station so very easy to get to. I would visit again happily !

Only recommend for bottomless brunch if you don't mind rude staff and being rushed the entire way through. You need to leave the second that your two hours are up, regardless of what you have left to eat/drink, which would have been fine had we been informed about this from the beginning and it had been handled with a bit more politeness from the staff.

Wish I had read the reviews before booking here, as they all mention poor service which is absolutely true. We arrived ten minutes before our booking time and were harassed by the waiter to immediately order food because "the kitchen gets busy". He came over 5 times in the space of 20 minutes and four other members of staff came over during that same time to take our order, despite the fact we repeatedly told them we were waiting for two more friends to arrive. I would suggest perhaps if they know they are fully booked for bottomless brunch that they employ some additional kitchen staff to help, or don't take as many bookings if they struggle with the volume of orders.

Venue is nice (although the music is far too loud), food is OK, great value for money and the nice added touch of different mixers to add to your prosecco to make a cocktail. Two full, already open bottles of prosecco ready and waiting for us when we sat down which was great on arrival, but in hindsight (see below) now a little concerning.

Ten minutes before our two hours were up, staff start herding everyone out of the restaurant. We were told we had to pay and leave immediately. En route to the bathroom I was even gestured from across the restaurant to return to the table to pay for my part of the bill. We were told there were tables outside that we could sit at to finish the drinks we had and we were allowed to take one glass each. A different waiter took back the half empty bottles from our table which we SAW them add to other tables half empty bottles to make full ones. I have seen other reviews mention this, which of course, management denied. But I know what I saw. Presumably the people after us got the luxury of drinking our leftovers.

We were only allowed out the front of the restaurant (there was a waiter guarding the back door) despite the fact they had several empty and unreserved tables in the back. There are very few tables out the front of the restaurant and because of construction work the pavement is very narrow and so you are pretty much sitting in the way of people walking to the station. Despite being assured by the waiter when shooing us away from our table that there would be somewhere to sit at the front, there wasn't..... Shock. So we walked around the outside of the restaurant to an un set table at the back to finish our drinks. Another group of customers had also done the same. Presumably they had been given similar wrong assurances by their waiter.

Numerous members of staff told us we couldn't be there and had to be at the front because the tables outside were reserved, despite it being October and no reserved signs on any of them. We explained there were no seats at the front and we still had drinks left, but the staff were extremely rude. They'd had our money and just wanted us to move on. The manager even knocked on the window from inside the restaurant and gestured to a waitress to get us to leave.

Finally, one waitress directed us to a table we could use while we finished our drinks. Unsurprisingly, our original table inside remained empty the entire time. So their claims in responses to other reviews that they have a tight turnaround time for brunches is just ANOTHER lie.

This restaurant only wants your money and then wants you gone. If you're looking for a nicer, calmer and overall more enjoyable experience with staff who know a bit about customer service, I would highly suggest you...

A friend and I decided to try out Serata Hall for their bottomless brunch. Initially I suggested the location as the images online looked amazing and the vibe also seemed appealing. Unfortunately I was left disappointed. I have done many bottomless/boozy brunches, in and around London. But sadly this was not the best. Which is a shame as I feel it has so much to offer. The atmosphere itself is great and a little quirky, perfect for summer outings. But it’s a shame I cannot say the same about the service and food. Firstly, the brunch is not inclusive of food, which is something that is not extremely clear. I had sent my friend the menu ahead of time and neither of us had caught this. This is obviously not a major issue and is our own oversight, but it is something to note. My biggest issue was the service and drinks. Drinks were extremely slow at coming out and when communicated to our server, we were told it was because they had a big table that was slowing down service. Which I would have been completely understanding of if the restaurant was at capacity (it was no where near) and if the brunch was not timed and they did not have a one drink at a time policy. Many times we were sat waiting for drinks, with empty glasses. To make this worse, towards the end of our brunch, we requested our two last drinks, but were told that we wouldn’t have enough time as we had 3 minutes left. This is obviously no fault of our own, so I asked her to bring the drinks anyway as our brunch had not finished yet! Surely if it takes 10 minutes to bring a drink and I have paid for drinks within a certain time frame, it is at not fault of my own, but rather the restaurant! To add insult to injury, when the bill came and we were almost about to pay (card in hand) about to insert card, something just didn’t make sense about the total (£123 for two people!) we both had two mains and two sides. When inspected the menu we were charged separately for the last two drinks £18, when I brought this to the attention of our server, she said “I did tell you that you only had a few minutes left of your brunch, so that is the reason”. I told her that it should be removed, which it was eventually. After this ordeal, the revised receipt was brought back and funnily enough there was a £12 service charge, when I very politely asked “is this optional?”, the response was met with an offended “Why, was there something wrong with the service”, to which I replied “I just wanted to know if was optional”. To avoid further hostility, I paid this anyway. This experience was such a shame because I had such high expectations and the drinks themselves were amazing! The chicken that I ordered was a little dry, but that is forgivable. My issue was the speed and amount of everything. I am used to brunches where the waiter is constantly topping up your drink and never letting it get even half way. I really hope this is something they work on, because the venue and menu has so much to offer. On another note, they may be better ironically with bigger tables. The bigger tables had big rum punch bowls that were...

Rude staff.

My friend and I booked a bottomless brunch. We realised that the bottomless brunch was for two hours but with other bottomless brunches we had attended, this was two hours for the alcohol and then you could stay (subject to availability) if you wanted to.

However, with absolutely no notice whatsoever, we were suddenly given the bill. We asked one of the waiters if we could order more food as we wanted doughnuts, despite receiving the bill. She said yes, bought us the final bottle of prosecco and then gave us the doughnuts. They delivered the doughnuts post 3pm eg past the two hours we were meant to have. Anyone would assume that meant - unless told otherwise - that you had time to stay.

However, all of a sudden the waitress appears asking for our payment for the older original bill she's brought BEFORE we ordered the doughnuts. She was very abrupt and rude. I showed her that we had the doughnuts that weren't on the bill and asked if we could stay. She nodded, then went back and got the correct bill. We paid as we assumed that they were trying to do a wrap up but we still had hot food to eat and a whole bottle of prosecco to drink.

Literally five minutes later with no warning, she comes up to us without any niceties or warning that this was happening, and says 'you need to leave'. We were feeling pretty frustrated at this point. We told her: 'We've ordered this extra food and you've given us no warning, we're not leaving until we're finished'.

Next thing, the general manager storms over and starts having a go at us. Without even checking what is going on, she also demands we leave. At this point we try and say exactly what we said to the waitress - we literally have hot food on the table and why did you let us order it if we needed to leave? We want to eat it. However, she doesn't give us an opportunity to explain and just keeps repeating that we need to leave. Finally, she says we can take the prosecco etc outside and finish it there but she was so incredibly passive aggressive the whole time. Also, if that was the case, why didn't she just say that when she came over the first time?!

I'm white, but I also felt there was a racist energy in the interactions as I was spoken to more courteously than the other customers, who were black women.

I honestly have never experienced such bad customer service in my life.

Tell your customers that they have a limited time when they sit down When it is getting close to that limited time GIVE A WARNING Don't let them order MORE FOOD if you need the table back Fundamentally, don't be rude. This could have all been so easily resolved with the manager actually asking us what was going on, rather than just...
