A very nice little restaurant located in the oldest market in Europe. And I cannot recommend this place enough, my 5 reasons for giving this place a 5 star review. 1. The staff here are very friendly, professional and will understand everything you ask them. 2. The restaurant is very contemporary and clean. Interior is well maintained and kept up to the highest standard. 3. Management is highly proficient and efficient. Mr Jubair is a true gentleman and a prince among men. He keeps this place well maintained, treating his staff well and his customers like Kings and Queens. 4. The food... don't get me started. I had lamb chops starter (recommend by Jubair) and it was so soft and moist that it tasted better than most chicken. Then I had Lamb Mirchi (again recommended by Jubair) which was so tasty with the right amount of spices for that chilli kick I love and also the taste was phenomenol too. 5. the drinks and desserts... the usual drinks they have there but their desserts are amazing. I had Mint Tea and also warm gulab jaman with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and some caramel sauce that worked a treat (again recommend by the manager, Jubair) I highly recommend this place for the amazing food, the wonderful experience and the lovely people

Great food, but even the “not spicy food” was way to spicy for a Dutch guy like me. Downstairs is modern but quite noisy. Staff is efficient but might be a bit more engaged with guest. Would recommend: be sure to order a bottle of tap water đŸ„”

Delicious Indian dishes with affordable prices, friendly staff (especially Juber) and a cosy underground venue. For a meal for 2 with 2 large glasses of wine we paid 60£ but we ordered way too much and had to take away half. However, It is not an issue in this restaurant as they provide boxes and a bag, so don't be afraid to really explore their menu and if you order too much just take it away 😊. Either way, the food was exceptional. We ordered popadums, samosa papdi chat as a starter, bread basket and 2 curries: chicken nawabi kurma and lamb sagwala. The former being more on a sweet verge and the latter on spicy. Both were great but my favourite was kurma! Don't be shy to also ask for advice from the waitresses if you don't know what to choose. They are happy to help. While paying we were also given a mint chocolate to sweeten the meal. We spent such a lovely evening/ date night at silka borough. We were also very well treated by the staff. We will definitely be coming back. If you are looking for exceptional Indian food, want to be treated well and have a nice evening/lunch then definitely visit this place :)

Awful and disgusting experience.

Walked in on a bank holiday Sunday evening, there were about 4 other tables seated inside (not busy at all). The place isn’t very inviting. It’s in a basement of a building off a busy London road, no windows, all grey walls, no colour anywhere and lighting is awful. It feels your sat in a cold dark cellar.

Anyway, we were starving and didn’t want anything fancy so we were happy to make do.

Before even ordering we thought the service was poor. The waiters reminded us of robots - impossible to get their attention, they didn’t really listen when talking to them, we felt a bit rushed when we were ordering our food, and they were strangely dismissive when asking questions about the menu.

We asked for our starter to come out with the mains, they didn’t listen and it came out before - we didn’t mention it and just made do. The MAINS then took 1 HOUR 15 MINS (Remember it wasn’t even busy). In that time, the waiters didn’t come over to us once to acknowledge the wait or check on how we were doing. When we tried getting their attention, they seemed to be avoiding the table. When they eventually did come over, no apology and no acknowledgment of the wait - absolutely baffling service all round. So robotic and inconsiderate.

We sought reassurance that the mains were coming and he said they were, right now. Obviously they weren’t, we waited another 10 minutes and figured he was talking rubbish. (STILL NO APOLOGY AT THIS POINT). Now sick of his dodgy car salesman attitude, we eventually got up, paid for our drinks and starters, and left.

The waiter was clearly offended at this and so went into rude and spiteful overdrive.

Absolutely disgusting service. Stay away...

Avoid like the plague! The most appalling service we have ever experienced in a lifetime of dining out. From the insolent first encounter with an elderly waiter to the final dismissive insouciance of the table waiter, this evening was married by rudeness and an interminably long wait to get served even drinks. Several patrons left after sitting twiddling their thumbs - drinkless and foodless. The elderly waiter (rudest waiter of all time award) brusquely told one couple they should not expect to have their food order fulfilled for the next hour....despite the restaurant having only two tables populated including ours. They got up and departed. The establishment's dingy and stultifying interiors added to the oppressive and aggressive demeanour of the two waiters. They even had the effrontery to add a service charge to the bill - a service charge is warranted when civilised service is extended!! From start to finish this restaurant makes you feel like they are doing you a favour by deigning to even approach your table, thereby violating the rudimentary basics of hospitality and service. The entire staff need urgent training in customer skills and civil communication. If you are looking for an evening in a low-lit and suffocating cavern punctuated by pugnacious and bellicose waiting staff taking out their frustrations on unsuspecting patrons then this is the place for you. Otherwise, avoid - there is an array of other restaurants in the area that would serve you with warmth, courtesy...

This is like the most run down place with super poor service. I walked in and was told to come 2 hours later in a super bossy way. After that I tried booking slot using online and went back to the shop.

Again I met the same guy whom spoke to me earlier ?abs (his name- so call the manager). He just practically dint want to entertain. He just said I asked you to come much later.

My 1st question is why have a booking system which can’t be used or reliable. Next is why have such manager in so call reputable food place. As a customer no matter how good the food is, it still boils down to humanity and kindness.

We are not eating for free either. There were someone in the bar counter saying shall try sorting out the tables, yet the manager just asked us to leave.

For those whom wants to try their food, please take note that food is something important and should be cherished. Therefore, I feel service should be good in order to make sure these things are met.

I am not eating for free!

Re:

  1. Why have a online system when it does work properly?
  2. Why wasn’t it indicated in your system that it was faulty?
  3. Why dint your manager tell me the online system was faulty when he saw us the 1st time?
  4. Why was your manger super bossy?

Is all this cause, you feel your restaurant is super hyped up? You mean to say you can’t accommodate bookings, since you took more walking?

What is the conclusion in...
