If you're craving authentic Thai flavors, look no further than Slurp Noodles. From the moment you walk through the door, the warm and welcoming service sets the tone for a delightful dining experience. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, ensuring you feel right at home.
But it’s the food that really steals the show. The noodle dishes at Slurp are nothing short of exceptional, offering a true taste of Thailand in every bite. The “Sen Su Kho Thai” is the star of the show offering a perfect balance of sweet, sour, and savory—creating a complex yet refreshing flavor profile. The “Pink Delight Noodle Soup” (aka Yen Ta Fo) is another must-try; the pink broth (made from fermented beans) pairs perfectly with the mix of seafood and thick rice noodles. Another dish I highly suggest you order is the “Gui Chai Guay”. These deep-fried chive cakes are a savory delight that’s crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, creating an irresistible bite every time. Paired with the homemade dark soy sauce, each dip enhances the earthy, slightly pungent flavor of the chives, making for a truly satisfying start to your meal. It’s the kind of dish that lingers in your mind long after you’ve finished and a perfect way to whet your appetite for the incredible food to follow.
As a Thai student living in the UK, I can say whole heartedly that whether you’re a noodle aficionado or new to Thai cuisine, Slurp Noodles delivers a memorable dining experience. It’s a hidden gem that promises not only incredible food but also an inviting atmosphere that makes you want to return again and again. Highly recommended!
Ps. They also have a bar downstairs called “Dang’s” which offers a variety of cocktails, wine, and beer. I highly recommend “Yuzu You”, a...
Read moreI really wanted to leave a better rating because the owner was so gracious. We first ate at slurp a few months ago and had a disappointing experience due to mishaps in the kitchen. My yen ta fo with seafood contained exactly one prawn and my companion ordered the braised pork rise bowl but got the roast duck. The chicken wings we had as a starter and the affordable red house wine were good. We bumped into the owner on the way out who asked how dinner was. and when we told him of our experience he gave us his personal card and said that dinner would be on him next time.
We did make it back tonight. I had the lad na or wide rice noodles with pork gravy and vegetables. It was okay but not great. The noodles were a nice texture but the pork tasted stewed in a pool of rather liquid sauce rather than browned and stir fried. My companion barely touched his dry vermicelli noodles. Also sitting in a pool of too much liquid that tasted solely of ketjap manis. We had a side of bok choi that was tasty but too hard and stringy. Service still a little sloppy as a waiter tried to bring us an order for mango ice cream destined for another table.
Trying to think of the positives: the condiments on the table were exactly what you would get at a street food stall in Thailand: sugar, chilli flakes, fish sauce, and an acidic chilli sauce. Noodles were cooked to the right texture. Affordable house wine at £26 which was good. We liked the chicken wing starter we had last time. The decor and...
Read moreI tried a variety of dishes here, so here’s my honest breakdown:
Som Tum Thai – It was okay, but not really my style. I’m more into the bold Isaan/Lao flavors - funky, spicy, and punchy. This version leaned sweeter and milder, more of a farang-friendly flavor.
Sen Su Kho Thai – Also good, but it didn’t give me that wow effect. Nice enough, but not super memorable for me.
Zabb Chicken Wings – Absolutely delicious! Crispy on the outside, with the perfect balance of spicy, salty, sweet, and sour. Easily one of the highlights of the meal.
Hat Yai Chicken with Sticky Rice – So good. Nothing to complain about at all - it really tasted like Thailand. Now I understand why it’s their best-selling dish and why Lisa from Blackpink called it delicious. It completely lived up to the hype.
Roasted Duck on Rice – My boyfriend’s pick. He said it was good, though in Thailand it’s definitely better. Still enjoyable, but not outstanding.
Thai Iced Milk Tea – Sweet, creamy, and refreshing. A really nice complement to the meal.
✨ Overall: Slurp Thai Spitalfields serves up some solid dishes. For me, the real standouts were the Zabb wings, the Hat Yai chicken with sticky rice, and the Thai iced milk tea - all absolute must-orders. Some of the other dishes leaned a bit too mild or “safe” compared to the punchy Thai flavors I love, but overall it’s a good spot if you’re craving Thai comfort...
