I recently visited Rajmahal Sweets with high expectations, but unfortunately, I was left quite disappointed. Firstly, the taste of the sweets did not live up to the reputation I was led to believe. The flavors seemed off balance, lacking the richness and depth that one would expect from premium-quality sweets from a reputed sweet shop. More concerning, however, was the service when purchasing 1 kg of kaju sweets. The staff member appeared to be unfamiliar with the proper way to arrange the sweets in a box. Despite my intervention and suggestions, the final presentation was unsatisfactory. The sweets were haphazardly placed, detracting from the overall appeal and giving a very unprofessional impression. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as there is certainly room for improvement in both the quality of the sweets and the service provided.

Visited this Saturday afternoon and the counter was full with sweets and the window counter was full with savouries. Few experiences and that is the reason the rating is low, 1. Savouries were kept open near the shop glass window with no cover/lid This is a hygiene issue. 2. We bought rasgullas, they said it was spongy. Came home within an hour and kept them refrigerated, but yet this morning it was sour and spoilt. Initially I thought maybe the sugar syrup was spoilt, but even the rasgulla was rotten and spoilt. Absolutely not consumable. Had to bin it straight away. 3. The Chomchom with a coating of malai tasted slightly sour. The sweet item was ok, but the malai started to go stale but was still consumable. 4. Only the molasses (gur) sandesh tasted good and fresh and we loved it. Service was ok.

I used to really enjoy visiting Raj Mahal, especially when I first discovered them through Too Good To Go back in May. The first couple of times were fantastic – I received a generous variety of both savoury and sweet items, including delicious baklava, samosas, rolls, and even a massive box of fresh jalebi. It felt like great value and a good way to reduce food waste.

However, my last two visits have been incredibly disappointing. Instead of the variety I once received, I was given just one type of stale savoury item and one unappealing sweet. It felt like they were simply getting rid of whatever they couldn't sell — the leftovers that nobody wants.

To make matters worse, the man serving was extremely rude and dismissive, showing no interest in providing even basic customer service. It's clear that they no longer care about the experience or value they offer through Too Good To Go.

I've learned my lesson and won’t be going back again. Save your time and money — there are much better, more respectful places out there. Stay far away...

Went to buy a few sweets in Brick Lane. Unfortunately the small shop next door closed down and had to go to Raj Mahal Sweets. Never ever again!!!! Horrible service, I arrived in the shop, one of them was on the phone, the other one very grumpy doing sthg in the back room and when he finally came no Hi, no information when I asked what was in one of the sweet, didn’t tel’ Me how much it cost neither- poor experience but was really fancying some Indian sweets. Wanted 2 but he didn’t have any change strangely so told me to buy another cake. Got an additional one that’s fine I have a sweet tooth and didn’t want for ages in the shop but what a mistake, when I tried the cakes they tasted very old, dry not milky as they should taste, awful. I never write reviews but in that case yes, considering the poor experience and the quality of the food, don’t recommend it at all. If someone has a recommendation on where to buy good Indian sweets, please...

Update: I got a reaction on my review. I can now say, the employee was informed, so that earns another star. However if he would have just said in a polite way “sorry we don’t have anything vegan since it’s all fried in the same oil” I wouldn’t have left a bad review at all. But as we like to say “the sound makes the music” and answering with an annoyed “nothing!” is still a reaction I would consider rude, furthermore the tone of the answer to my review it’s still quite rude. Also I’d like to point out, that I only judged the service and nothing else, so I think it shouldn’t matter if I was a paying customer or not.

Original review: Very unfriendly service. I asked politely what in the store would be vegan and he just said nothing! Even though later on some of the signs you can see, that there actually are vegan foods. So very rude and not well...
