I absolutely love this place! It's great for a meet up with friends, birthday dinner or if you are having a couples' night out! It's about a minute walk from Sutton mainline station or the plethora of buses that come from all over Surrey and South London so easy to get to. Parking is meters only about £3 per hour depending where you park. The staff are so friendly, helpful and attentive which is really refreshing. I have been coming to Sofra since it opened in Sutton - you can also pick up a nice takeaway if you like your Grilled meats - the portions are reasonable and quality of meat is excellent. If you dine in you must try the mezze aka starters... some really yummy options on there that would also be suitable for vegetarians too. And don't forget to ask for the freshly baked Turkish bread - you won't regret it! For my mains... although a bit more on the pricey side, I LOVE the lamb chops, the ribs and chicken wings ... they are perfectly smoked on the charcoal grill, juicy and usually served up with rice and salad or chips (check the menu for more info) or I will have the mixed shish so chicken and lamb ... delish! They have a selection of Turkish beer and bubbles or wine if that is your bag. Truth is am always too full for desserts- they are not as impressive as the mezzes and grills in my humble opinion. The weekends always has a nice buzzy atmosphere and in the summer it is perfect as they open up the bi-fold doors so you get to enjoy fresh air too! For mains dinner depending on what you get £15-25; mezzes are £5 - 7 approx. Check menu for takeaways but if local you can swing by and order it fresh rather than uber eats which will cost you a bit more. Highly recommend Sofra for all occasions- it's usually a bit quieter lunchtimes or the afternoon if you prefer that. I don't have many photos but have posted the chops/ribs and Turkish...
Read moreNot a great experience. We have wanted to visit the restaurant for a while but as we have two small children it has been a bit challenging. When we eventually managed to get there, we were very disappointed to find out the whole restaurant was closed for an event... well fair enough. Then we thought we will book a table for St Valentines as it is our 5th wedding anniversary as well. I was told any bookings after 4pm had to have the ‘set menu’ for £25 each as an ONLY option. Arrived before the time. We were pointed a table where to sit. Had a menu in front to choose from. I think there were 2-3 options to choose from for a starter that we had to share! Then they offered 3 options for main meal to have one each. And the desert only option was Baklava to SHARE which was 2 small pieces of baklava with a ball of ice-cream in the middle. We were the only guests of the restaurant at the time. As we were having our food, staff started decorating hanging hearts decorations, putting white table cloths on the tables with some st valentines confetti, started stepping on chairs to hang the decprrations, setting up tables, moving them arround. It was hectic. I thought it would have been nice to have one of those lovely tables though... yet it didn’t come with our ‘set st valentines menu’. It wasnt a restaurant athmosphere and it almost felt like we were abstracting them to set up their restaurant. The food tasted good but i feel sick now after having it 🤢🤭 Oh we did get a complimentary glass of bubbly each, which was very kind to offer, but we don’t really drink alcohol 😬 ... Oh on the top of the £25 each was £5 service charge. Total £55 🙈😆
Shame as we were really looking forward to having a good experience there and...
Read moreWent with family for our anniversary dinner. The restaurant is very nice and clean. Very spacious as well. The starters: I ordered the meat balls which turned out to be 3 pieces of flat tiny burgers. For £7 starter i expected to have a bigger portion than Just 3. The taste was OK. For the mains we ordered the Sofra mixed grill which again the portion size was dissapointing. Orderd the kids meal which cost £7, again very small portion of 4 wings and small portion of chips and no drink. The overall the food was very average. Very bland. I have been to many Turkish restaurants and their portion sizes were enormous, food was tasty and succulent and brilliant seasoning. Also value for money definitely. This place is very average and no way value for money. I also read in the reviews that the staff were very attentive. Not once did any of the staff asked if everything was OK. They were quick to take our order and...
