The WORST Caribbean restaurant in Dalston!! The young guy that served me was RUDE with a stroppy attitude! I was the only customer in the place dinning in, so the staff were not run off their feet busy and the atmosphere was unfriendly and frosty. After ordering from the big menu on the wall. Only to be told that they only had three main dishes. This was displayed on a tiny whiteboard on a wall hidden in the kitchen area where staff serve. Completely out of sight! I made it clear I would be eating in. Absolutely NO customer service whatsoever! To my horror, I was informed that they don't give plates to customers that eat in. So, my sit down meal was presented in takeaway plastic containers. I've never experienced this foolishness before!! The RUDE young guy that served me shouted out the amount I had to pay. Unprofessional. So I went back to the counter, paid for my meal and asked for a fork as all I was given was a plastic spoon. Didn't he know that plantain is easier to eat with a fork rather than a spoon?! I won't be coming back here again. And after reading the previous customer complaints reviews, I should have never decided to come in. Unfortunately I read the reviews after I'd already ordered. The food was average and the plantain was oily, stodgy and clumped...

I am writing to express my concern regarding a recent experience I had with my order from your restaurant. I ordered the brown stew fish for my 94-year-old mother, and unfortunately, the dish was overcooked and burnt. I believe that this quality issue should have been recognized during preparation and packaging. It was disheartening to know that the food was sent out despite its condition. When I reached out to Survivor and Deliveroo to address this issue, I was informed that photographic evidence was necessary for a refund. Unfortunately, my mother does not have a smartphone, so we were unable to provide the required documentation. It’s disappointing that my mother’s feedback wasn’t considered adequate. I understand that running a restaurant comes with its challenges, but trust and quality should always be a priority. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and improve your quality control measures moving forward. As a loyal customer, I have enjoyed dining at your establishment, and it saddens me to think that I may need to share this experience with my family and friends, who often visit your restaurant. I hope to see improvements soon so that I can continue to support...

I love purchasing my food for my kids and I from this restaurant every Friday. But I made a purchase today for my children and I and after reaching home and opening the containers, I was not happy with how the meat was portioned in the containers. There was 95% rice and 5% meat. I ordered 1 large oxtail, 1 large stew peas and a large jerk chicken. I was not happy with how any of them was shared at all. The guy who served me was relatively new and they need to train them on how to portion the rice and meat in the container. At the end of the day, I am spending my money and should be happy with what I receive. The other staff who are there does a good job with how they portion the rice and meat in a container. The food tastes good but it just was not portioned right. I can't be eating 95% rice and 5% of meat. Please train your new staff properly on how to share the...

I am so disgusted and very embarassed as a Jamaican knowing that this is what is being served to the public as “good Caribbean food” I called the restaurant and was told the chef will be notified about my complaint on the quality of service. I ordered takeaway Pepper Prawns Rice n Peas Festival and 2 Saltfish fritters. It was shocking the festival was terrible my daughter couldnt even eat it, the fritters were tough and clearly made with self raising flour so stale inside couldnt bite into it, Prawns overcooked and hard, Rice n Peas taste bad and had bottom of the pan crispy parts in my portion. the price I paid what a great wasted meal all went into the dustbin very disappointed. When representing you need to do better regardless of where you are located and who your public audience is your food standards should be 10/10 at all times.

Really delicious, authentic west Indian food. Always piping hot and fresh. Good food hygiene and friendly customer service. Honestly? Since I left hackney decades ago, when I was growing up and throughout my teens and 20's, I use to always eat at Peppers and Spice. This restaurant I found recently when I was visiting my mum. It's like a treat, every time I eat here because the food is so yummy. The nearest west Indian to me, where I live? I have to travel out of my area and into Shepherds Bush. Not the same quality of food. I definitely recommend Survivor. Their toilet is spotless and pretty. That's a bonus. Stay safe and keep up the high standards.

Trying to find the best oxtail, used to go to all island grill but closed down, then pepper spice was a fail on the oxtail but there Patties are amazing and not to miss then Ewarts jerk oxtail was great at first then was not the same after two more purchases. Then found survivor, friendly staff. The women was very accommodating and friendly, I ordered a large oxtail and not expected this behemoth portion but was very satisfied for £12 and £1 for a can drink. This was by far the best oxtail I've had in hackney so far and will return again.
