This was my first time ordering with Sushi Wa and it's easily the last. I spent £63 ordering a few rolls, a pork katsu curry and a tuna and salmon chirashi. The rolls were meh, the katsu came with the curry sauce that was very watery thin but worst of all was the chirashi. As you can tell from the photos it was wafer this and unevenly cut. It was so thin that you could even see the shredded seaweed underneath it! I thought that this must be some mistake so i called to let the restaurant know. I was shortly called back by the waiter who told me that the manager says that Sushi Wa cuts the thickest pieces of sushi in London... I asked to speak to the manager who then told me that he was actually very generous since he decided to give me 5 pieces of tuna and salmon instead of the usual 4 (so in other words i was lucky). I then asked if he thought it was acceptable to serve something so thin that i can see through it - Now came the kicker - he started laughing at me, following up by saying he guesses that i should of ordered some rolls instead. He then offered nothing as compensation, so i put down the phone and decided to see him in person.
I entered an empty restaurant and spoke to the chef (the manager) who continued to giggle whilst not blinking when looking at the uneven wafer thin pieces of sashimi. I had told him that i have eaten in Tokyo, so i would like to believe that i have some experience when it comes to sushi. He then said "in Japan they cut it very thick but this was London..." He never apologised for his rudeness or his poor quality cooking, so i just decided to ask for a refund (only the chirashi) and leave.
To summarise, if you enjoy quality food with friendly and helpful staff then don't come here. If on the other hand you enjoy off cuts of fish and a manager who thinks it's ok to laugh in your face when you have a complaint then please,...
Read moreI had sushi, green tea doriyaki and sake cocktails. The cocktails were amazing, sweet but at the same time balanced, I was seriously impressed! The green tea doriyaki it was warm and super tasty, for me it was the first time I tried a doriyaki warm, I usually got them cold but this one was so soft and the green tea cream....wow!! The salmon sushi and the tempura prawn were brilliant as well and the salmon was very fresh! The gyoza were tasty too. The atmosphere was very nice, with comfortable seats, nice decorations, quiet...top for a romantic date! In terms of customer service it was excellent as well, the waitress took care of every order, looked after us but was discreet at the same time. Price wise for such a quality of food and place it was pretty good!! I would definitely recommend this place and I would definitely go back there again to try the...
